Electrician by trade and spent a majority of time working maintenance for Amazon facilities and working on motors and generators. As a homeowner I have rehabilitated several homes with most of my own work. My work is my pride and I strive for perfection.

"Preston of G-1 Plumbing performed the services and addressed the toilet & drain problem. He was unable to stop leak(made it worse) & submitted his recs to Choice Home for review. I was unable to understand Choice Home's response regarding the faucet leak. Their review stated faucet needed to be replaced BUT it was under "builder's warranty." I built this home in 2005. There is no "builder's warranty" now. I cancelled the proposed work order & paid out-of-pocket. A Friend, who was familiar with my builder and knows faucet components, came to my home, adjusted/cleaned the faucet cartridge and stopped the leak. The CHW tech, Preston, is conscientiuos, however, IMHO lacked the knowledge & experience to stop my leak. Home Warranty Companies, at least in my area, hire owner/operators who need the work to build their business and are NOT the most experienced/knowledgeable & are willing to work for less money. In my experience, Home Warranty Companies want the CHEAPEST resolution, not the BEST. I would recommend G-1 Plumbing for most plumbing issues."

"The last was a rental company that we have and we used them for an air conditioning and heating system. It was Bototach Mechanical. It’s been a good program for us. They’re very responsive. I don’t know what the thought process was. My husband said, well let’s try these guys and so we did. We have an older home and it’s proved to be a very good deal. The quality has been pretty good, so I would give them an A for the quality. I will give you one helpful hint though. If the company decides they want to replace an appliance, you need to call them and negotiate with them because you can upgrade, but you need to talk to them in person not just do it over the internet."

Treehouse Builders questions, answered by experts

A solid seasonal routine keeps your greenhouse and nursery service running smoothly in CO. In spring, inspect frames for freeze-thaw damage and test soil pH. During summer, monitor ventilation systems and check irrigation emitters for mineral clogs. Fall requires winterizing outdoor plumbing and preparing heating systems before the first frost. Throughout winter, clear heavy snow from the roof and verify your heating system performs properly.

Helpful?

Completing greenhouse and nursery service projects dramatically extends your growing season in Alamosa. Attached greenhouses act as a thermal mass, buffering your home against freezing winter temperatures. Adding native nursery plantings reduces your water use, while strategic windbreaks block blowing sand and harsh winds. Growing food at home also provides fresh produce, improving your overall comfort and self-reliance in this high-altitude desert climate.

Helpful?

Several types of local professionals handle greenhouse and nursery service projects in CO. You will find landscape contractors who design for high-altitude, arid climates and alkaline soils. Greenhouse builders construct structures capable of withstanding heavy snow loads and intense UV exposure. Irrigation specialists manage complex water connections, while native plant experts focus on drought-tolerant landscaping. You must hire certified specialists for any chemical applications.

Helpful?

Adding greenhouse and nursery service to your home impacts several core systems. Attached structures add weight and moisture risks, requiring deep footings to withstand Alamosa freeze-thaw cycles. Heating and lighting require secure electrical connections built to handle high UV exposure. You must also grade nursery beds to direct runoff away from your foundation, especially in areas with poor-draining clay soils.

Helpful?

Your property is an excellent candidate for greenhouse and nursery service if you have an unobstructed south-facing yard to capture the abundant Alamosa sunshine. Homes with reliable municipal water access and sandy loam soils provide the best growing conditions. Heavily shaded lots, strict water rights restrictions, or contaminated soils make these projects difficult. Always verify local zoning rules and property lines before starting construction.
