Installers were great and were reviewed separately. Installed carpet was substandard quality, verified by the mill. Padding was defective with rock-hard lumps and numerous pockets which croaked and squeaked, verified by independent inspector. HD agreed to replace both at no cost, and I would have been happy if that happened. However, the replacement carpet was identical to the first, so I rejected it. Third roll was the same. Each step took weeks and multiple communications. After four months, upon legal advice, I requested a full refund and it was granted. I kept the inferior carpet and defective padding, since my original had been disposed of. My house was in limbo for five months (spring and all summer), with heavy and fragile items packed away and reinstallation happening \"soon\". HD customer service staff were friendly, but ineffective. The same carpet was still for sale the last time I checked. I would not recommend HD for carpet."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ca/vacaville/home-depot-reviews-211136.htm"},"position":5},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"JACK SMITH GLASS & SASH INC","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"CA","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Timothy D."},"reviewBody":"They replaced a window, installed a interior door with glass in it and also repaired a window. We agreed upon a time for the measure and in response to a query, the time was moved earlier slightly but a time that I could still make. I arranged to leave work shortly after lunch and I rushed home, arriving a few minutes before the specified time. The guy there for measuring had already been there half an hour and asked my husband a few questions but my husband did not know the answers. I indicated that I would like as narrow an edge as possible on the solid surface and as small an overhang as possible on the Cambria on the island. The countertop installation was fairly soon after the measure on a Thursday. This time, the workers arrived at least half an hour after the indicated window for arrival but that was not a big deal and the workers were pleasant just as the measure guy was pleasant. They brought remnants of the Corian but did not bring the remnants of the Cambria. The Corian edge was a drop edge and 1 1/2 inches even though at least some fabricators will do a 1 1/4 inch edge. Since my countertops are low (I am short, I really think the 1 1/4 inch would have looked better but perhaps this is "too custom." The island, where I had requested the smallest overhang possible, has 1 1/2 inch overhang on each side, making the refrigerator a very tight squeeze to move past, there is slightly less on the front and back and there is a significant lip although I thought we had agreed that a lip was not necessary. There is a 3/16 inch jog up in the backsplash where it comes out from the cabinet to the window edge. This is not unsightly, just seems a little odd, perhaps it matches the height on the other side of the window between the cabinets. I emailed that I had not received the remnants of the Cambria. On Friday morning, I received the large remnant of the Cambria but not the smaller remnant. On Friday evening, after letting the glue dry overnight, I started to put things into the cabinets and discovered that one cabinet would not open at all. I thought it had been glued shut but actually, it had been screwed shut. I emailed to indicate the problem and to remind about the missing Cambria remnant. I again tried to call on Saturday morning for both the cabinet issue and the missing remnant. On Monday, contact was made on the cabinet issue and Countertop Designs was again reminded about the missing remnant. Personnel came out on Tuesday, pried up countertop to remove the inappropriate screw and they removed about 1/8 inch off the top of the Kraftmaid base filler pullout because it would not otherwise clear the 1 1/2 inch lip on the countertop. So now, the cabinet opens. The missing remnant is again mentioned in an email on Tuesday. On Wednesday, I am informed that the remnants would have been instinctually disposed of and that they would have been removed from the premises the day before. These remnants would not have been useful for countertop, being only about 18 inches wide in the narrower dimension but useful to me. All told, I would have paid a little over $200 for this material that was useful to me; delivery to me was indicated in the signed agreement and multiple reminders were provided to the company before the material was apparently disposed of. I have yet to receive the remnants of this material that I think is owed to me. The quality of the workmanship of my final product seems fine; my design requests were apparently "too custom" to accommodate but if one didn't have specific ideas in mind, I think one would be happy with their "design."

We paid as soon as the estimate was completed and the job was finished on April 23. We tried to order the best product within their line and I believe the price was good considering how many specialized cabinets we had in our design. Surface was cherry. So the comment is that there's a lot of variation in cherry but the sample on display doesn't show that dorrs are made of about 3 inch wide strips. So having a light 3 inch strip next to a more traditional cherry color was a surprise (and I would have preferred that the display was more representative) but other than ordering a replacement door that was just too much for me, it's OK. Everyone was really, really nice. In my opinion, the Kraftmaid factor had a defective day when they were making the drawers. The drawer fron did not origianlly cover the face of the cabinet at the bottom. there was a great deal of overlap at the top but about a eighth of an inch opening at the bottom of the cabinet front not covered by the drawer front. After I brought this to the attention of the installer and the store and reiterated the problem, the installer spent several hours moving the drawer front down on the drawer. It would have been an excessive pain if one were installing one's own cabinets. So it took longer than I had hoped and there were some problems that had to be resolved but I now have very nice kitchen cabinets."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ca/vacaville/lowe%27s-reviews-2294064.htm"},"position":8},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"CARPETS & MORE","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"CA","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Eliz D."},"reviewBody":"Installation was scheduled for soon thereafter. Workers arrived and proceeded to spread compound without removing existing
vinyl. After about 90% of the floor was covered with the first layer of applied compound, my husband reached me and I was able to contact store personnel who would insist that workers remove the applied levelling compound and remove the old
vinyl. We decided to continue instead (they finished about 8PM) with installation on top of partial existing vinyl-(which the saleman had indicated was not a viable option but now was apparently the preferred installation procedure). The cost for vinyl removal was deleted from the cost as no vinyl was removed. The workers did an excellent job from an appearance point of view. The final floor looks very good and the seam is not at all visible. So we have mixed "feelings" about this experience.

"CHI has done an excellent job for me and I recommend them without hesitation for any remodeling work. Here's why: My job started out with an entry door replacement, evolved into a pantry expansion, and finally finished with an entire kitchen countertop replacement. I was very pleased with how they worked, the materials they used, and the attention to detail in the workmanship. And they were very responsive, communicated well and frequently, and checked in regularly to make sure the job was getting done right and on time. Each of their craftsmen were highly skilled, knew what they were doing, and didn't cut any corners. And each one was friendly and courteous to boot! I very much appreciated their attention to protecting the rest of the house, and they cleaned up the jobsite every single day at the end of their work day. Remodels are disruptive, no matter what. But this was about the least painful I've experienced. I have worked with a lot of contractors. CHI is a 10 out of 10."

The cost of home remodeling is $50,000 for the average homeowner. However, this cost can range anywhere from $3,000 for a small project to $170,000 for a whole home remodel. Factors like project size, location, and room type all affect your overall cost. For example, bedroom remodeling costs are one of the least expensive projects, costing about $1,500 to $5,500 per bedroom. However, a kitchen remodel has a significant cost range, totaling anywhere from $14,500 to over $70,000.
Yes, most states require home remodeling contractors to be licensed, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed home remodeling contractor could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.

The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
While city and state laws vary on general contractor licensing requirements, hiring an unlicensed general contractor could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines for your area.

Qualified, licensed electricians will charge from $50 to $100 per hour. The cost to hire an electrician for emergency visits may range from $100 to $200 per hour because this urgent service usually takes place during off hours and may require an electrician to leave or reschedule jobs they’re currently working on. Scheduling work on holidays or during periods of high customer demand, like after a major storm, will also lead to higher rates or extra fees.
The cost to install a ceiling fan is $250 on average, ranging from $85 to $605 or more, depending on the fan type and size and if additional wiring or switches are required.
Standard fans are typically the most cost-effective, ranging from $50 to $300 to install. Complex ceiling fans like rotational fans with a dual motor are usually the most expensive to install, ranging from $200 to $1,500. It’s important to note that installing a ceiling fan in a room without existing wiring is a very complex job that could cost up to $2,000.
