Small jobs welcome

"I have been searching for a company to do my driveway for over a year. I was scared to pull the trigger on a 3,400sqft driveway. When Andrew reached out to me, He spent tons of time explaining everything in detail (also educating me about the process) and that was something different. You could tell how passionate he was to just make a killer project for the customer. Then once he came by, he continued same thing, and actually saved me a bunch of money! He created a design that took off 20% of the concrete. I felt very comfortable finally making our decision. Andrew communicated everything through the process and if I had a question I quickly had the answer. His crew was terrific, kind, funny and professional. The concrete looks fantastic. The kids love it more then my wife and I. Would I use this company again? Well, we are planning the back patio, my moms driveway and my place of business... if that says anything! Thank you Andrew!"

"Synblades made my backyard pop! It looks excellent. Additionally, all work was done as scheduled and they worked to get me the best deal on materials and install. Their design recommendations were also very helpful. I would definitely recommend their services."

"Victor and his team are easy to work with. Started the project on time and finished ahead of schedule. He kept me informed of everything and always showed up on time. Victor and his team planted trees & shrubs (about 25 in total) and did a concrete slab in the backyard as well. The backyard looks amazing. I would highly recommend Everlasting Green Landscaping."

"Robert and his crew were really wonderful and did a great job with our patio! Robert was always on time and did the project in the specified amount of time and for a reasonable price. This was a big job where the original concrete patio had to be removed and a new flagstone patio installed in its place. The new patio really pulls the whole backyard together and is such a great addition! Robert was also very good about making adjustments at our request without hesitation. We will be hiring Robert in the near future for additional home improvements!"

Patios questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can build a sunroom addition to your home despite living in a cold climate. Make sure to use high-quality insulation and windows and to supplement with sufficient heating from your HVAC system. The windows in the sunroom allow enough natural light into the room to help heat it most times without having to use the furnace. Even a small electric fireplace can heat the sunroom well enough.

If you want to hire a professional to build a screened-in porch, a local sunroom or porch contractor is your best bet. If you can't find a local sunroom builder, another option is to consider hiring a general contractor to perform the work.

If you're handy, you may consider building the porch yourself. Before you do so, make sure you understand the local permit requirements and building codes so that you don't have any problems with the safety or structure of the porch.

A screened-in porch can add value to your home, but it won’t count toward the total square footage at an appraisal or when it comes time to sell. A screened-in porch is not fully enclosed, usable year-round, insulated, or heated or cooled, so it doesn’t meet the requirements of livable square footage in most locations.

There are many materials to choose from, including picket fencing, wood slats, galvanized metal skirting, dog-ear fence panels, scallop wood fence panels, bamboo screens, and other decorative screens. You can search for materials at local big box stores like Home Depot or scour online home improvement sites. Good search terms to use are fencing, skirting, and privacy panels.

Creating a screen room is one of the most cost-effective ways to enclose a patio so you can still use it in the winter. Most screen rooms aren’t insulated, so you’ll need to wrap up warm or use patio heaters in winter. Also, be aware they might not hold up well if you live in a location where heavy snow is common.
