Customers say: Super punctual

"Juan did a great job meeting my drywall needs. I had a ceiling leak in a rental unit I own. After I did the mold remediation, Juan replaced the affected drywall and texture-matched to the surrounding ceiling perfectly."

"Carter’s drywall did a great job. They communicated well with me throughout the project and they stayed to the timeline. I would definitely recommend them to my friends and family and if I have any further drywall needs, I will be hiring them again."

Small jobs welcome

"I hired Marco to remove our 1975 popcorn ceilings and refinish the entire ceiling with imperfect smooth skim coat of drywall mud. Marco was prompt with a very reasonable estimate for the work, was flexible when I asked for extra things to be done and was prompt and timely getting the work done. Any time I need drywall work done in the future I'll be calling Marco, he was great to deal with and very professional."

"Excellent, efficient cleaning service. Was available at short notice (and on a holiday). Very good cleaning job on all surfaces, with nice touches like tying towels in a decorative manner (hotel style). Price reasonable (compared to other similar quotes from Angi)."

Popcorn Ceilings questions, answered by experts

Because of the nature of the texture, it's common for the popcorn texture to loosen while painting. Popcorn ceilings are delicate, and using a heavy hand with a roller or applying overly wet paint can loosen the texture. To avoid a mess, handle the material gently with a roller or brush. It's also smart to test a small area first, and if the texture starts coming off, the ceiling may need repairs or sealing before painting.

Older textures may contain asbestos, requiring careful handling and professional inspection before work begins to ensure safety compliance.

Yes. Sagging ceilings often indicate more severe problems, such as structural damage, roof leaks, and pest infestations. As the sagging expands, your ceiling may eventually collapse, posing a threat to your physical safety and leading to expensive repair and restoration costs. That’s why you need to fix sagging ceilings as soon as you notice them.

Popcorn ceiling textures can enhance acoustic properties, while their removal or repair modernizes appearance and resolves health concerns from old asbestos.

If your popcorn ceiling is asbestos-free and you are ready for a new look, painting is an option. As long as there is no flaking or other wear, a new coat of paint might be just the thing to refresh the old ceiling. The best way to paint a popcorn ceiling is to use either a paint sprayer or a thick roller to cover the popcorn texture fully. (Do not forget to dust it off beforehand!)

“Note that if you eventually want to remove the popcorn ceiling, a painted ceiling is a labor-intensive job to remove and will cost more,” says Bob Tschudi. “Once painted, the process of removing the popcorn ceiling requires physical scraping as opposed to a spray-and-scrape approach. It’s very labor-intensive, and thus more costly.”
