"Big scammer - Ripped me off!  Claims to be a family business, but doubtful. Some ads say father/daughter while others say father/son. Just a single guy around 30. Charged me $185 to hook up a dryer and then didn't even do it correctly. Not only can't I use the dryer, but now can't use my washer either because when I turn on the water it shoots everywhere. He promised that the steam connection was properly hooked up - it wasn't even close. Every day for a week he promised to come by and fix it. Every day he was a no show - no call - no text - no excuses. He just didn't get around to it and now I can't do any laundry. Steer clear of this scammer!"

The green coloration that develops on copper roofs is called a “patina,” and it’s a result of mild oxidation on the surface. The oxidation process is not harmful to your roof. In fact, the surface corrosion acts as a protective layer and won’t spread to the core of your copper roof materials. The discoloration will progress much more quickly in damp or humid climates than it will in dry climates. If you don’t like the green color, you can seal your roof to preserve the shiny, rose-gold look.

The paint on a metal roof will last for about 10 years (the metal roof itself has a life span of 40 to 70 years). After a decade, the metal roof’s color may be more noticeably faded, and chips and cracks may start to form in the paint.

Moss grows in dark areas of roofs, including in corners and gutters. If left alone, it can grow under roofing and cause permanent damage. Here’s how to remove moss from metal roofs: 

  • Soak the moss to soften it

  • Scrub it away with a soft-bristled brush, or pick it off with your hands (be sure to wear gloves)

  • Use a moss remover that’s compatible with metal roofing, following the manufacturer’s directions

  • Remove dead moss and rinse the roof thoroughly

  • Prevent future moss growth by trimming branches, cleaning gutters, and attaching zinc strips to moss-prone areas
