"JC was on time and fixed all of my door handles. He was knowledgeable and even changed a part on my toilet. I’ll be using him for more home projects in the future!"

"Dry rot repairs - had 3 estimates before Casablanca Construction. Sebastian was personable yet very professional and HONEST. We (older and knows nothing about repairs) need people like him. Pointed out possible future damages (no pressure). Have very polite, hard working crew especially Martin. Good quality of work for a reasonable price. I would definitely recommend them."

"If you need a generator installed, call these folks! Putting in a generator is complicated. It involves building a pad, trenching, pipe-laying, connecting to the fuel source and hooking into the home’s electrical system. All of this took only two weeks with GenJazz. Finding a generator was hard. Finding a fair price was was harder. I found both. This is a very good team of workers. If I have future electrical projects, I will call them first."

"Arrived when promised; found far more damage than originally thought. Re-evaluated the length of time and materials required. Inclement weather caused delays in timely completion. However, I remained informed on the job timeline and all work was done in a professional and respectful manner."

"Nick and his crew at Fence Dr. absolutely nailed it!! I’m a pretty handy guy but I don’t do fences and the job was large, so I was apprehensive to say the least. Nick was able to give me some great ideas as well as pointed out somethings I wanted that just weren’t feasible and in the end, made my vision a reality. The price was very reasonable considering the cost of lumber, and the craftsmanship was outstanding and well worth it. Polite and professional the crew showed up on time, completed the job within the timeframe we specified and they cleaned up the job site when they finished. I absolutely love my new fence and I will definitely be recommending Fence Dr to anyone who has the need!"

"Vincent pulled down a wooden patio trellis, hauled away the wood, cleaned the patio and painted where the trellis beam was attached to the side of the house. He was quick and efficient. He returned the following day to put a 2nd coat on the wall. I will definitely use Vincent again for other jobs."

Small jobs welcome

"I recently had the pleasure of working with Jose Zavala Construction to replace my old redwood deck, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Jose was professional, punctual, and reliable throughout the entire process. His workmanship was outstanding, and he truly did a great job. Not only was Jose easy to work with, but the estimate he provided was also fair and transparent. I highly recommend Zavala Construction for any home project you may have. His dedication to quality and customer satisfaction is evident in his work."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

While it is possible to build a wooden carport yourself, especially if you are skilled in carpentry, professional construction is recommended. Professionals ensure structural integrity, proper anchoring, correct alignment, and the use of quality materials for a stable and durable result.

The average cost of DIY window framing is about $40 to $60 in materials. If you hire a window treatment professional, you’ll pay for materials plus labor costs—anywhere from $250 to $800 per window. The final cost is highly dependent on the window size, as larger windows are heavier and more difficult to install, as well as the type of window framing material.

The cost to convert a carport into a garage averages about $22,000, ranging from about $15,000 and $55,000. Additional cost factors to consider include size, time of year, and how much of the carport you can reuse. Other cost factors include the kinds and amounts of materials used, such as:

  • Add insulation: $1 per square foot

  • Add drywall: $1–$3 per square foot

  • Add window: $450–$2,000 per window

  • Add outlets: $75–$500

  • Add garage door: $250–$11,200

  • Enclose framing: $5–$13 per square foot

  • Replace roofing: $1,000–$2,000

Accurate measurements, sturdy materials, and seamless integration with other structures.

No rules state how much of a load-bearing wall can be removed. Rather, you need to adequately support any area that is removed. Support should always be added to as much wall area is being removed. Failing to support the area properly will result in structural damage.
