"Professional, competent, and outstanding — that’s how I would describe South Bay Stucco! When I first spoke with Ever, I told him I had a 100-year-old house that hadn’t been worked on in at least half a century and needed some love. He replied, ‘That’s what we do — we make old houses new again.’ Boy, was he right! Ever and his team repaired every crack, completed a full re-stucco, and completely restored my home to its original glory. It was a joy watching those men work — competent, dedicated, and very hard-working. Ever communicated with me regularly and went out of his way to meet all my expectations. Tony, one of his teammates, took the time to answer all my questions and was a pleasure to speak with. I’ve received countless compliments from neighbors and passersby. South Bay Stucco did an excellent job, and I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone seeking quality stucco work!"

"Very knowledgeable and professional, showed up on time, explained why the existing stucco had failed and what he was going to do to prevent that. He also got the critical part of the job (demo) done right away to prevent further damage from falling stucco, Did quality work."

"Amazing that they completed job in one day! (wall in front of garage was completely redone (R&R) and patching around garage door and under one window). They matched the existing sand finish. The "feathering" in of the new stucco to the old looks good. From a scheduling standpoint I would recommend they provide more of an advance notice for scheduling (i.e. 2 days vs. 1day) and positively let the customer know they are on the schedule."

Stucco questions, answered by experts

Yes, using natural additives and methods that lower impact.

Failing to repair damaged stucco can lead to significant problems. Cracks can grow and deepen, allowing water and moisture to get behind the stucco. This moisture intrusion can cause water damage, structural issues, and mold or mildew growth. Delaying repairs will likely cost more in the long run as the damage worsens, so it's best to repair your stucco as soon as you notice any signs of damage, such as cracks, holes, or discoloration.

To repair damaged exterior stucco, you’ll first remove all loose and crumbling material from the damaged area. You then need to thoroughly clean the area and dampen it to ensure proper bonding. After that, you’ll apply a bonding agent to the repair area, then apply new stucco in layers, allowing for curing time between each layer. The final coat should be textured to match the surrounding stucco pattern as closely as possible. Once fully cured, the repaired area can be painted to match the rest of the wall if needed.

Stucco applied over brick can last 30 to 50 years or more when correctly applied and properly maintained. Stucco’s lifespan can be shortened by improper application, incorrectly mixed material, lack of preparation before application, and lack of maintenance. To get the most life out of your stucco siding, keep up with maintenance and repair any damage as soon as you discover it.

If contractors discover water damage, rot, or mold beneath the stucco, additional repairs will be necessary. These repairs can increase your total project cost and timeline, but addressing them promptly is essential for your home’s structural integrity. Ignoring hidden damage can lead to more severe issues and higher costs in the future.
