For maximum effectiveness, you should keep your solar pool cover on whenever your pool isn’t in use. Covering the pool during the day allows the solar cover to use the sun’s rays to heat your pool, prevent evaporation and heat loss, and protect your pool from debris.

While some commercial pools are required to run their pump 24 hours a day, homeowners should not. Running a pool pump for 24 hours a day isn’t necessary to clean the pool water—eight hours is enough. Doing so unnecessarily increases your electric bill and puts more wear and tear on the pump and filter, shortening their lifespan.

Natural pools don’t necessarily attract snakes, although there is a chance they could stop by for a quick visit. They’re not likely to stay, however, because there’s nothing for snakes to eat in a natural pool environment. A well-maintained natural pool has clear water, so you should be able to easily spot a snake before diving in.
