"Alvaro was professional and pleasant from the first meeting. He gave me an estimate and time frame for the job and was true to his word. He helped me selected the best color for my interior painting job and it looks wonderful! He ca e and did a walkthrough before final payment, which was best business practice. Thank you! Would use again and refer to others."

"They were courteous and helpful in providing advice on materials to use on our project. The paint used was high quality and their pricing was very reasonable. They worked around our schedule and were not intrusive while working indoors. Great to work with"

"Julio and his team painted our entire house interior including the ceilings and doors as well as our kitchen and bathroom cabinets. They were very professional and communicative, and answered all of our questions. We also found their prices to be very reasonable. Julio also stopped by multiple times to check on progress and answer any additional questions we had. The cabinet preparations were a lot of work, requiring his team to sand them down completely to remove previous paint layers, and the results look wonderful. He also offered to touch up areas where separate appliance installation projects had exposed unpainted wood, despite being outside the scope of the initial estimate. I would definitely recommend Julio and his team."

"Xander’s Coats Specialists transformed our interior. They didn’t just paint, they prepped the walls and ceiling by filling in holes and repairing cracks. They took down old curtains and patched everything up. They covered the built-ins, banisters, light fixtures, and the floors to keep everything clean. They completely transformed the space. The whole team was very professional and communicative. Overall I could not have asked for a better experience. I definitely recommend Xander’s! And I will hire them again in the future!"

On our project, she struck the perfect balance; she listened to our ideas and feedback but very much maintained her role as the creative expert, making us feel comfortable the entire time. I would absolutely recommend Ecolecuá with no hesitation. With all she has done, she is going to find the right approach for just about any client. Aileen Dominguez Dentist, Boston, Massachusetts"

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

A natural paint remover for metal is a solution of 16 parts water and one part baking soda or vinegar. When heated on your stovetop, these non-toxic household items combine into a highly effective solution that can be used to remove paint from small metal objects with tricky nooks and crannies.

You should ask a few questions to ensure that your potential lead removal professional is experienced and qualified to handle lead-paint abatement safely, legally, and properly.

  • What are your qualifications and experience removing lead-based paint?

  • Are you licensed and certified to remove lead-based paint?

  • How do you test for lead paint?

  • What methods do you use for lead-based paint abatement?

  • What do you plan to do with the hazardous material when you remove it from the home?

  • Do you do replacement and painting work or removal only?

To fix bubbling paint, scrape away any loose or blistered areas using a putty knife. Lightly sand the surface to smooth out rough edges and create a level finish. Clean the area thoroughly to remove dust, dirt, and any residue. Once the surface is clean and dry, apply a quality primer suited to the material you're painting. Finally, repaint the area, making sure to work in proper temperature and humidity conditions to prevent new bubbles from forming.

Distilled white vinegar can help you remove candle wax from surfaces like countertops. You’ll need to scrape off most of the wax and use the distilled white vinegar to help soften and remove the rest and leftover residue. Keep in mind that while it’s possible, using distilled white vinegar isn’t an effective method for removing wax compared to the methods listed above.

A traditional German schmear uses mortar, making it unsuitable for adherence to painted surfaces. Professionals recommend removing any existing paint before applying mortar. However, you can rough up the painted surface and clean it to test if the mortar will stick. Remember that the underlying paint's texture and color may affect the schmear's final appearance—so starting with a bare brick wall will ensure the ideal finish.
