"I hired Victor to move the vent over my stove and install the new range hood. He was super-friendly and detail oriented. Better still, he didn't freak out when he showed up to do the job and realized the drywall he was going to be working on had been tiled over with backsplash tile--making the whole installation quite a bit more complicated. He just handled it--and did a great job. My new hood looks great!"

Range Hoods questions, answered by experts

No, you can’t install just any microwave over your range. You have to get a specific type of microwave known as an over-the-range unit. These include venting and lighting features that you’ll need above your stovetop.

Although countertop units are more affordable, they won’t work for this type of installation. To avoid hazardous conditions in your kitchen, buy the right type of microwave for your needs.

Yes, professionals can often retrofit models with minimal disruption.

Most residential range hoods have a CFM between 200 and 600. A higher CFM means your range hood is better at removing smoke and odors from your kitchen. The measurement ultimately depends on your stove’s width and heat output as well as the size of your kitchen.

Compared to the average size of a stove and kitchen, 350 CFM would be the minimum recommended rating for the average kitchen. However, selecting a higher CFM range hood would guarantee better ventilation to match your cooking habits, whether they’re minimal or extensive.

Ensures safe electrical connections and proper venting, improving kitchen air quality.

A range hood is an exhaust fan for your kitchen, and several types and styles exist. They are meant to remove grease, moisture, and fumes from your stove. Although some models filter and recirculate the air, the most effective ones remove the air through a duct that’s vented to the outdoors.
