"Justin landscaped my entire property: front, back, and side yards after my home was destroyed in the CARR fire. He installed pavers in the front driveway and porch area as well as throughout the backyard (patio and walkways) These have LED lights to light up the walkways. He installed a most beautiful large pond with fountain. Put in sprinkler system, fence, and planter boxes. The yard is exactly what I asked for. Beautiful trees, flowers, shrubs, grass, retaining walls. It is my own little piece of paradise. I could not have asked for a better result. He is kind and professional, with a good work ethic. I highly recommend Justin."

"Contacted Wylie’s for a Spring yard cleaning. The woman I spoke with was extremely professional and nice. A gentleman arrived next day and gave us our quote. He was thorough and communicated well. He and another guy arrived on time for the appointment. They worked fast and efficient and took care of all tasks. We had neighbors overgrown oleanders that were trimmed way back. Now we can see the beautiful rose bushes! Front was mowed, edged and trimmings removed. Back was mowed and raised garden weeded - by hand. Weed abatement both front and back. Did an excellent job, fast service, reasonable cost and did great clean up. Would highly recommend for anyone that needs that one time cleanup to get motivated! We will definitely use Wylie’s again."

"In a week's time, they appraised the work needed--tree removal, grinding stump and remove three large branches from an oak tree that was leaning over the road--scheduled the work and completed the work on time. Cleanup was spotless. Olga and Efren were engaging and very informative. I recommend their work and I would hire them again."

Lawn Care questions, answered by experts

Post-dethatching, lawn recovery includes watering, fertilizing, and reseeding as necessary to restore health and promote growth.

Buffalo grass spreads through both underground roots and above-ground stolons. The widespread root and stolon system makes up for this grass’s overall lack of density. It’s a hearty grass, so it spreads on its own slowly, especially considering that most of the male (no staminate) varieties of grass are sterile. You may think about over-maintaining your lawn to encourage growth, but this would have the opposite effect.

In most municipalities, lawn care and mowing companies require at least a business license to operate legally. However, requirements can vary by location, and some areas mandate that landscaping companies be licensed, insured, and bonded, or even hold a general contractor license. Before hiring any lawn service, confirm they are fully insured. This protects you from liability for injuries on your property and also protects the company's employees. You can use Angi's state license lookup tool to verify a company's licensing status in your area.

The first step is killing any current nutgrass plants, either through application of herbicides or sugar, by digging up the plants and rhizomes, or by using soil solarization. To discourage new nutgrass plants from forming, ensure proper landscape drainage and bring shade into areas of the lawn that are consistently damp.

It’s possible to over-mulch leaves. If the leaf mulch is thick enough that it’s blocking and smothering the grass, that’s a problem. Ideally, you should still be able to see the grass when you’re done mulching to ensure its ability to continue growing. The solution is to make another pass at the top layer of leaf mulch to collect some of the top layer.
