"John Wilson was hired to mow several acres of hillside weeds. He showed up on time and did excellent work. We had negotiated the price and I believe that I got excellent work at a fair price. I recommend him for weed clearance. -- Papa Allan from Solvang"

"I had really lit my side yard and backyard go. There was a lot of junk including old moldy carpeting, two old broken down recliners, patio furniture, tree trimmings, rotten apples, and sidewalks so overgrown with shrubbery you couldn’t walk through there. All the flower beds were covered with dead grass and weeds. I just want it all the junk removed but Kevin Sanchez said his crew could do that but they could also straighten up my gardens and make it look pretty again. I was skeptical, but I liked his vibe so I hired them. I couldn’t have been more shocked when I saw that not only was all the junk gone trees were trimmed and the flowerbeds had been restored and rejuvenated with freshly turned over topsoil. and it was a great value. Kevin brought his team and they attacked my backyard with fervor and it was obvious they were there to get the job done with the least hassle possible. They even checked with me on a couple of items to make sure I really wanted to get rid of it.I appreciate"

"A+ ! Helix Landscape Services was our best find in years! John's observations, recommendations, and demeanor immediately gave me confidence and trust that he had the expertise to do it all -- and he did: troubleshooting and repair of landscape lighting system; reconfiguration of in-ground irrigation and drip systems to resolve flooding and irregular watering; selection and re-sodding of difficult-to-grow area, freshening wood mulch, and planting roses. John and his crew approached this renewal job with as much customer care, as if it were a much more exciting design and new-start effort. Can't recommend them highly enough!"

Weed Services questions, answered by experts

Clover is a sustainable, low-maintenance alternative to turfgrass, allowing homeowners to put away the mower while enjoying a lush and consistent lawn. The plant also attracts pollinators, adds nitrogen to low-nutrient soil, and holds up in a range of climates. Consult a local lawn care professional to determine whether replacing your grass with clover is right for your yard.

Buffalo grass is not a dense grass, so weeds can grow between the buffalo grass plants. However, as long as you don’t overwater your lawn, weeds have a hard time growing. If you do notice weeds, you can use granular herbicides that are safe for buffalo grass in early and late summer.

Landscape fabric and a few inches of gravel should be enough to put under a deck to prevent weeds from flourishing. If you don’t want to invest the time and money on a project like this, you can regularly spray the area underneath your deck to kill weeds.

It’s not legal to intentionally damage a neighbor’s tree. Even if the roots of a tree encroach into your yard, if you damage or kill a tree that belongs to your neighbor, you can be held liable for the damage in most cases. Since herbicides can spread through the tree, causing damage to the whole tree and not just the roots that are on your side of the property line, you shouldn’t poison your neighbor’s tree. The other downside to this method is that if the tree dies, it can fall onto your property and cause more damage, so herbicides are best avoided in this circumstance.

Each season’s climate influences approaches needed for effective suppression.
