"August Roofing sent Daniel to meet with me to assess where the areas may be that were causing the leaks. Daniel took his time and really evaluated my entire roof to find where he felt the leaks were occurring. He even looked into my drop ceiling to find traces of a leak. Once he gave me the proposal, the workers who did the job were prompt, efficient and left no mess. I had to wait three months after the work to see if the leaks had been corrected as it was summer and we had no rain. After the first rain we found that the roof was totally fixed but we had a leak around a sky light. I called August Roofing to come back down to address this. They were back out within a week and patched around the sky light as needed. Although I will have to wait for the next rain to see if the patching worked, I have full confidence that if there is any leaking August Roofing will make it right. Everyone at this company, from the person who answers the phone, to the workers that do the job, are pleasant and professional. As a building owner, I am thrilled to have a great roofing company when needed. I had two other bids, one of which wanted to sell me a whole new roof and the other much higher in price for a patching but they were not sure where leak was coming from. Really glad I chose August Roofing!!!!"

"I needed to replace the roofing from my home because it’s been 30 years. They came in and gave an estimate the next day. They worked with me on price and advised me on what shingles were better and prices. They arrived on time and finished pretty fast. They got the job done."

"Gerardo was professional, timely, and courteous. I researched the best way to fix the leak of my asphalt roof around my chimney. Gerardo recommended that very same method and guaranteed his work. His estimate was fair and he completed the project under his estimate, and in a timely manner. The last rains proved that he indeed fixed the leak. I highly recommend him and would have use him again for any future roof work."

"After many months of looking for a roofing company I found Brizuela. They knew what they were talking about and gave me all the information. The process was smooth with them. They did everything promised in the time they promised. That does not always happen in construction. The guys were responsive with my questions along the way. You want someone you can trust with your home. The pricing was fair based on the market. I now have a brand new roof and could not be happier with my decision. Recommend reaching out if you are looking for roof repairs."

"Arceâ s roofing was timely and clean on the job site. With these storms we had roofers were not calling back or scheduling out months in advance. I contacted Arceâ s roofing and he was able to squeeze me in. Worked well with our schedule and the price was the great. Had him install new gutters while he was at it and those came out great too. Two thumbs up donâ t hesitate in reaching out."

"Quick response, installs quality materials, listens to customer concerns & answers & response appropriately. For me there was no waiting time. Is a general contractor specializing in roofing and able & capable to determine structural roof damage and make appropriate repairs. Best cost estimate can't be determined until all shingles are removed but a better estimate might be more accurate with more of a detail observation. Such as cost of 3rd party workers to repair stucco. A better obsession of trusters &/or rafters can determine the stability of the overall roof. After competition other construction workers noted that shingles were strong and thick ready for rain, wind, & hail."

"The final bill is over contract by $1,100. Total paid $13,600 the contract was $12,500. It took a long time to complete. Contract signed on 07/07/20. The job is ending today 07/22/20. The roof is great. The termite damaged wood work is their downfall, They are still working on fixing it before I give them the final payment."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

A properly installed, high-quality tarp can be left on a roof for up to 90 days. However, this is only a temporary measure and not a substitute for proper roof repair or replacement. Thinner tarps or those exposed to heavy wind and rain may not last the full 90 days, so it's important to monitor the tarp's condition to ensure it continues to protect your roof from the elements.

The exact weight of a bundle of shingles depends on the shingle type, manufacturer, and other factors. It can weigh anywhere between 45 and 800 pounds.

Generally, hailstones that are one inch in diameter or larger can cause significant damage to a roof. However, smaller hail can also cause damage, particularly when accompanied by strong winds, if it strikes an aging or poorly maintained roof, or if hailstorms are frequent in your area. Hail that is ¼ inch (pea-sized) or smaller poses a minimal risk of immediate, permanent damage, but cumulative impacts can cause deterioration over time. The extent of the damage also depends on the roofing material; hail-resistant tiles like slate or certain types of asphalt shingles can withstand impacts better than other materials. If you are concerned about potential damage after a storm, it is always a good idea to have a professional roofer conduct an inspection.

You can technically install a metal roof over asphalt shingles, but it isn’t a good idea. This is because you’re essentially creating a moisture barrier under the metal, which can easily—and often does—lead to significant mold damage. Removing an asphalt roof isn’t terribly expensive, and some roofing companies might cut you a serious labor and disposal discount if you add it to a new install.

Furring strips (also called wood stripping) are not always necessary for a metal roof installation, but they are highly recommended and may be required by local building codes or the roofing manufacturer's specifications. There are several key reasons to use them:

  • Energy Efficiency: Furring strips, made of wood or metal, create an air gap between the metal panels and the roof deck. This acts as a thermal break, reducing heat transfer into your home and improving overall energy efficiency.

  • Moisture and Condensation Control: The air gap allows for better airflow, which helps prevent moisture buildup and condensation under the metal panels.

  • Structural Support: They provide a solid, even frame to which you can attach the metal roofing panels.

It is especially important to use furring strips when installing a metal roof over existing shingles. Without them, the roof surface can be uneven, and you will experience greater solar heat gain.
