"Had some furniture that needed to be put together and didn't have the time to do it myself. He showed up right on time, had all his own tools, and got it done way faster than I could have. Everything is completely sturdy and looks great. Very professional and highly recommend"

"This was NOT a skylight install. It was a skylight repaired for a leak. The service tech was personable, great and efficient. The price of the repair was very good and fair. If I have any other related work to do I will certainly call these people back."

"Raul is a very pleasant person to deal with. He was able to repair our shower door one day before he was scheduled and did an excellent job. The original shower installer installed the shower door so that it leaked and could not be contacted to fix it. We plan to have Raul back to do other maintenance on our home. We are extremely pleased. His prices are very fair."

"The Five Star crew arrived right on time and got right to work cleaning all my windows inside and out. They were very pleasant and polite and respectful of my home. They evaluated the screens and explained why several of them required repair/replacement and discussed a variety of options with me. Once I made my decision the crew was able to construct and install the new screens at my home that very same day. When they were done I was very pleased with my clean windows and screens. It was a home maintenance project well worth the money spent. I will definitely call Five Star Window Screens next time i need my windows cleaned, and i hope you will too."

Window Screen Repair questions, answered by experts

Most window screens in residential homes are designed to be removed from the inside, especially with double-hung, single-hung, and casement styles. That said, some setups require exterior removal. Older homes or custom installs may have exterior clips or brackets, and sunscreens are almost always mounted on the outside. Before removing your window screen, look at how it is held in place.

Window seals don’t last forever, so they’ll inevitably fail for one reason or another. One of the most common reasons is the expansion and contraction of the glass. When the glass gets warm from sunlight, it expands and adds pressure to the seal; at night, as the glass cools, it contracts. This process, day in and day out, can eventually cause the seal to fail. Other common sources of failure include the house settling over time, chemicals that damage the seal when repainting windows, and incorrect window installation.

If you’re not keen on using a traditional doggie door, there are some alternatives. One popular option is a solid, insulated door that you can lock when you’re out of the home for added security. You can also opt for a doggie screen, which you can lift and lower to allow your pooch access to the outdoors. These are a bit more convenient to use than a regular exterior door, although security could be an issue. You can also install a screen door with a small opening for your pup to prevent bugs from coming inside as your dog exits.

Typically every 10-15 years or whenever they show signs of wear and tear.

Among the various entry points into your residence, it's crucial to recognize that your basement windows are arguably the most susceptible. Basements usually have windows facing the side and back yards, often concealed from driveway floodlights, porch lighting, and doorbell cameras. Their vulnerability underscores the importance of reinforcing basement window security to safeguard your home from break-ins.
