Small jobs welcome

"Simon came out gave me an estimate and also how long it would take. His crew removed 4 hedges, cleaned out the beds and put river rock in the beds along the house. Also trimmed several of my neighbors trees that were overhanging onto my property. They also cut and edged the lawn and cleared out the driveway of weeds that were coming thru the cracks of the cement.Work was completed in about 3 hours by a crew of 4.Crew was very professional and courteous and I would recommend and would hire Simon to anyone needing this type of work."

"Excellent craftsmanship. Paramount Pavers more than exceeded my expectations. They were accommodating, professional, courteous, respectful and timely. I highly recommend Paramount Pavers for all aspects of landscaping and concrete work. They demolished a 55’ retaining wall, constructed a new wall and a new driveway. The work is impeccable. Great Company. Thank you Isaac, Rudy and Edwin for caring for my project, like it was your own."

"My previous gardener of 20 years began to take advantage of his longevity and began to do less with each visit. Last straw was when he  cut the heads off 11 sprinklers with out informing me.  Woke up to find several Old Faithful mini geysers in my yard. Called Mark as he was leaving on his honeymoon and he promptly came out to make an estimate. the very day he returned. Though he is based in Duarte and I'm  in La Crecenta he said nothing about travel time. He and his crew are excellent!

"You don?t expect a landscaping guy to care as much as Erix and his crew did. Every detail of the sprinkler install was done thoroughly, he double-checked all the zones, made sure coverage was even, and walked me through the whole system. And he didn?t try to upsell me on stuff I didn?t need. Refreshing! I?d work with him again in a heartbeat!!!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can hydroseed with a garden hose, but you’ll need a tank or other large vessel for mixing the slurry, then a pump to send the slurry through the hose for spraying. Making your own hydroseeding unit can work, but it’s not usually worth the effort and supplies unless you already have them.

Most experts recommend a quarter-inch layer of compost for best results, and you will need about .77 cubic yards of material per 1,000 square feet. To measure how much compost to use, take the square footage of your yard and multiply it by .77, then divide that number by 1,000.

While there are over 400,000 different flowering plants worldwide, there are five main types of flowers. These flower types are based on their lifecycles, giving each type a unique personality. These types are:

  • Annuals, which complete their entire life cycle within a single growing season.

  • Perennials, which the tops die off in the winter but regrow in spring.

  • Biennials, which complete their entire life cycle within two years.

  • Hybrids, which exhibit either annual or perennial behaviors depending on location

  • Flowering shrubs, which are small to medium-sized perennial woody plants, such as shrubs or evergreens.

Yes, weeds can still grow in decomposed granite. If properly compacted, it can act as a good weed suppressant, meaning you’ll only pull weeds occasionally. But no ground cover is completely weed-proof. To further prevent weeds, you can try spraying your decomposed granite with distilled white vinegar.

Yes, you can absolutely transplant bushes instead of removing them completely. The success depends on the size of the bushes, their age, and the transplanting season. Ideally, transplant during the dormant season (late fall or winter). Dig out the entire root system in one piece, fill the new hole with fresh soil and mulch, and water thoroughly after planting.
