"I recently hired Herzog Brothers Electric to install a Level 2 EV charger (NEMA 14-50 outlet) at my home, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the entire experience. From the initial quote to the final installation, everything was handled with professionalism, transparency, and expert-level workmanship. Dustin and his team were prompt, courteous, and took the time to walk me through the entire process. They didn’t cut corners—every detail from conduit placement to material quality was top-tier. The wiring was clean, secure, and built to code. The team even gave thoughtful suggestions for future upgrades and made sure I was fully set up and operational before leaving. In a market where good electricians can be hard to find, Herzog Brothers Electric delivered excellence. If you’re considering any kind of EV installation or electrical work, I highly recommend them. Reliable. Honest. Professional. I’ll definitely be using them again. — Julius M., Fresno, CA"

"Absolutely amazing !!! They have fixed a long standing electrical issue with my 100 year old farmhouse. I highly recommend them for any of your electrical needs. Very friendly and quick. The job was talked about Thursday and they came at 7am and had it completed by 9:30 am. Years and years of hearing that my industrial mechanic husband was not an “electrician” and I found my own electrician. Thank you so much Sergio !!! It works amazing !!!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, you must use an extension cord specifically rated for outdoor use to power outdoor lights, such as Christmas lights. Extension cords intended for indoor use lack the protective properties to withstand exposure to outdoor elements. To safely hang and power lights outside your house or in your yard, always connect them to an outdoor power source using an outdoor-rated extension cord.

A C-wire connects your thermostat to your household heating and cooling system to provide continuous 24V power. The furnace's transformer converts household electrical current into this low-voltage power to operate the HVAC system's circuitry. In most configurations, the C-wire connects to the terminals labeled "C" on both the furnace's low-voltage terminal block and the thermostat. In some cases, if a dedicated C terminal is unavailable, the C-wire can be connected to the "G" (fan) terminal at the furnace.

To power the system down, simply turn it off and cut it off from its electricity. That means removing the transformer from the wall plug and taking out the battery that usually sits within the control panel itself. That will disconnect it from power and essentially reset the entire alarm system.

Most new homes have coax outlets in every room. A home can require anywhere from one to five outlets based on how many rooms require internet, cable, or satellite access. If you want to mount your TV on a wall as part of a home renovation, consider installing a new outlet to avoid the need for a splitter or long cable that could slow down speeds.

If you find the power cables for your appliances are too short, there are ways to extend them for the cost of just the extra wiring you need. Simply cut and strip your wires, solder them together, and cover them using heat shrink tubing. Not everyone has a soldering tool on hand, so if you’re looking to extend in a pinch, an extension cord, power bar, or surge protector can do the job just fine.
