"Hired Pacific Sands after we lost our home in the Eaton Fires in Altadena. We were very happy with their team and the designs they finished for us. Their permitting team was amazing too, so happy they were able to help with that part of the process. too."

Hi, I’m Alexander. I’ve got over 15 years of hands-on experience in repair, installation, and maintenance. I’m the type of person who shows up on time, figures out the problem quickly, and fixes it the right way the first time. "We worked with Ali (sales manager) and Tony (project manager), who took the time to design a project that made sense for our property and our budget, made a number of suggestions and recommendations and were never pushy or tried to "sell" us on something. The crew really went above and beyond to provide top quality workmanship and overall we were in very good hands. Highly recommended!"

"I hired Palm Construction for a kitchen remodel and rewiring my house. They did an excellent job. I am very happy with the results. They finished the job on time which was very important. The workers were very polite and professional and cleaned up after the work was completed. Jacob, Ken and Mike did an excellent job coordinating the Projects. Also the designer Maya, was extremely helpful going with me to pick out flooring, countertops, appliances and paint. I would definitely recommend Palm Construction and will certainly use them for any upcoming projects I may have."

Residential Design questions, answered by experts

A floor plan is a less detailed illustration showing a building or room's layout from above, including elements like windows, doors, walls, and fixtures. It offers a simplified view for homeowners. In contrast, a blueprint is a more detailed, to-scale architectural drawing that includes all parts of the building plans, such as structural elements, construction details, and utility schematics. While a floor plan can be a type of view within a blueprint, the complete blueprint contains all the necessary details to turn the plan into a reality.

How long it takes to build an in-law suite will vary by type. The time it takes to build an addition will typically be less than for completely new construction. Expect to spend about two months if you convert a basement, attic, or other existing room in your home. New structures can take up to five months, plus up to two months to receive the required permits.

No, space planning is not only relevant for new spaces. With the help of a professional architect, you can still create a space plan for an existing space.

Yes, staging a home really works and can help your home sell faster, potentially for a higher price than if you did not use a home staging service. According to the National Association of Realtors, 48% of seller’s agents reported home staging decreased a home’s time on the market.

Plus, 20% of buyer’s and seller’s agents claimed home staging increased home sale prices by 1% to 5%. Although decluttering and cleaning help a home sell, staging can take your home’s curb appeal to the next level, helping to expedite the process and increase your profit.

Yes, open floor plans can be more expensive to build than non-open floor plans. The primary reason is the need for additional structural support to ensure stability, which can increase construction costs. Additionally, open floor plans need powerful HVAC systems to maintain temperature in a wider space. Finally, open floor plans need more flooring to cover a large area. If you are buying a home with an open floor plan, you won’t see dramatic price differences compared to a home with more rooms.
