"We found Bielefeld Construction on Home Advisor and was surprised when Ray responded because we hadnâ t previously had a lot of luck on Home Advisor. We hired them for a master bedroom remodel and are very happy with the final outcome. We made a few changes here and there and Ray was very accommodating. All employees and subcontractors were pleasant, considerate and meticulous in what they brought to the project. We would definitely recommend Bielefeld Construction and use them again if the need arises. 5 star organization!"

"They made an appointment the next day, showed up on time, clean and professional. After finishing he leveled my dishwasher, at no additional charge, which had been bothering me for years. All very friendly at a fair price."

"May 17, 2017 -UPDATE -- I reviewed Silverlining Const. earlier and I believe I might have been overly critical of their service. I was offered a choice of written bid or use the time and materials method. I chose time and materials. I don't think it would have mattered in the overall cost of the job. There was a problem with the tile that had already been put in before Silverlining came on the job. It was necessary to remove some tile and correct the problem. It was my call but it was hard to see the work redone. I was told of the problems that could occur down the road and the rebuilding was the best option. The owner was friendly and personable. He was on site a few times to check on things. I was somewhat disappointed in the final product. It looked pretty good standing back, but up close there were some flaws, but not very obvious. The clean up was not as thorough as it could have been. The company has a good reputation. This job had some problems that were not all Silverlining's fault."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Building involves setting foundation posts, framing with durable wood, adding roofing support, and protecting from elements with water-resistant finishes.

Framing is the shell of the house. It includes several steps, including studs, plumbing, and electricity. A professional will ensure the wall frame is secured for the house’s structural integrity.

Framing prices change depending on the material and whether the wall is load-bearing. Most contractors use wood to frame a home, but metal is another popular choice.

Using a steel frame may raise the value of your home. Steel is more heat resistant, has better longevity, and doesn’t need any upkeep compared to traditional wood. You can also customize a steel build a little easier than other materials like brick, concrete, and vinyl—which have trouble bending and adapting to renovations.

The average cost of DIY window framing is about $40 to $60 in materials. If you hire a window treatment professional, you’ll pay for materials plus labor costs—anywhere from $250 to $800 per window. The final cost is highly dependent on the window size, as larger windows are heavier and more difficult to install, as well as the type of window framing material.

One of the most common house framing basics for decades has been using wood for the framing work. However, some framing contractors now suggest using steel frames. Steel is lightweight, resistant to fire, and resistant to moisture, all of which are areas where wood framing could cause problems. However, steel framing is more expensive than wood and limits your ability to insulate the home.
