"James was on time, and I gave him a list of things needing done in my home. He installed a new kitchen sink faucet, cleaned my gutters, installed doorknobs, and a couple of other odd jobs quickly, efficiently, and left things sparkling clean when he was done. He even came up with a solution for a drainage problem I noticed after the recent rains we had. I’ll be having him back to tackle this job as a prevention measure for future rains. I’m confident that James has a wide range of skills and experience to do just about anything I could ever need, and will be using him for all my future jobs - large or small. I feel I got a great value for the money. Great job!"

"Marcos came on time and he did a great job fixing several interior doors and installing new doorknobs. He also rehung a closet door. He was very polite and efficient and cleaned up beautifully afterwards. I was very happy with the job he did , and would definitely hire him again. Sue R."

"In spite of a break because he tested positive for covid, the Handy Juan completed the rebuilding and installation of my kitchen cabinets in a reasonable period of time. He accomplished exactly what I desired to be repaired. He communicated pleasantly and effectively. He left the area clean and in good order. I would gladly have him back for future projects."

"We recently hired Falfanys Painting to install luxury vinyl flooring and paint the interior of our home, and we couldn’t be happier with the results! Their team was professional, punctual, and paid great attention to detail throughout the entire process. Not only did they handle the flooring installation flawlessly, but they also installed and painted all the baseboards, which really tied the whole look together. The quality of their work was top-notch, and they made sure everything was clean and precise before finishing up. If you’re looking for reliable, skilled professionals for flooring or painting, I highly recommend Falfanys Painting. They transformed our home and made the whole experience smooth and stress-free. "A good handyman is hard to find but I hit the jackpot with D.E.S. Handyman Services. David showed up on time, did a GREAT job and is a nice guy to boot. I have him doing several projects on my mobile home in Cathedral City and have more planned for him. He installed an in-wall air conditioning unit, ceiling fans and is painting my kitchen cabinets among other things. His prices are reasonable and his work is second to none. I highly recommend him."

"We hired Raven Exteriors (Ron and Nick) for multiply projects over the past few months. Excellent work, professional and reliable. They cleaned the work area nightly and was cautious about covering all furniture. Jan – 1600 sq ft of Smartcore vinyl flooring (Andover Oak) with water barrier Feb – Door and baseboard trim throughout home with framing corners Mar – Installed 2 French doors. Raised the back fence 1.5 feet and installed a gate. Mar/April - Kitchen remodel – Removed an L shape wall, bar, power and lighting. Reinforced subfloor joist and replaced damaged subflooring. Placed an Island (78.7 x 40.6) with water, plumbing and power. Framed butler pantry, sheetrock, mud and taped with lighting. Hung pendulum lights and ceiling fan. Relocated the refrigerator and water. Framed cabinets, sheetrock, mud, and taped above the refrigerator. July – Folding patio doors (151 x 80), remove sliding doors and install. Would recommend Raven Exteriors. Sorry, unable to load photos"

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

A spark arrestor is a simple metal mesh device that prevents flammable particles from escaping from a combustion source and causing a fire. You typically find these attached to gas or diesel engines on things like cars, generators, and garden tools (lawnmowers, chainsaws, etc.). Fireplace or wood-burning stove chimneys also have spark arrestors attached to or sitting under the chimney cap to capture burning embers.

You can safely build a fire pit on your patio as long as you use porous, fire-resistant pavers or a fire pit mat over existing pavers. Otherwise, you’ll need to have exposed ground beneath your pit. You’ll also need to make sure the location for the fire pit is far enough away from your house and any other nearby structures.

While a hot fire can help heat up and loosen tar within your chimney, making it a recommended step before using a creosote log, it will not burn off significant existing buildup on its own. Attempting to remove built-up creosote with a hot fire is dangerous and can cause a chimney fire. For safe and effective removal of caked-on creosote, the best approach is to hire a professional chimney sweep.

You should never block both the top and bottom of your chimney. Proper airflow is essential because the temperature inside the chimney will still fluctuate as your house warms and cools. Moisture can build up without ventilation, leading to dampness in your walls over time. Blocking the top prevents debris and animals from entering, but the chimney still needs air circulation to avoid condensation issues. Allowing the chimney to breathe maintains the health of your home and prevents long-term damage.

When a carbon monoxide alarm goes off, you should always take it seriously. Infrequent and occasional chirps often point to a low battery, a faulty device, or dust buildup (this usually affects smoke detectors and not standalone CO detectors). A continuous alarm signals an emergency, and you should immediately evacuate and call 911. When it comes to carbon monoxide in your home, it’s better safe than sorry.
