"The owners of El Cabinet flipped a condo unit in my building. El Cabinet was therefore responsible for a full renovation of the unit. I was not their customer. However, I had a great deal of interaction with them over the course of their work as a HOA board member and neighbor. They were entirely unprofessional. They refused to cooperate with the HOA, they did unapproved work, they were rude to the HOA, residents, and staff, and they threatened and harassed the HOA and residents on multiple occasions. As a single example: at the start of the reno., our HOA informed them that the new hard surface flooring they wanted to put into the 2nd floor unit would have to demonstrate compliance to City and State building codes for sound transmission between livable floors. They did not get HOA approval for their chosen flooring. They swore that the flooring they met code, but they refused to perform the test required to prove it. They did not inform their buyers of the full extent of the problem, which held up escrow. In the end, they left the buyers with the responsibility for the required flooring test, which, when performed, failed. I would never recommend hiring this company for any renovation work."
