"I recently had the pleasure of working with Ken at Ellison Electrical on a service panel upgrade for my electrical vehicle and completely rewired my new kitchen. Ken was incredibly patient, explaining every step of the process. He immediately understood the floor plan and installed everything to code. His attention to detail and knowledge was exceptional. The quality of his work is evident in every connection and fixture. The service panel upgrade was seamless, my kitchen looks amazing and now my home feels more secure and efficient. "Roberto Sanchez Solar System, I interviewed 4 solar panel companies and I chose NRG because Will was able to explain everything well. He answered all my questions to my complete satisfaction. Friendly and honest, Will made the sales process very smooth and personable. Tiffany helped and coordinated the project to make sure everything goes well. She always got back to my emails and phone calls promptly. Installers completed the solar panels when I was at work. Came home and he solar panels were on the roof. Definitely a nice install and quality work was delivered. Lisa helped out with the financing on the HVAC. She was patient and I believe got me a lower amount that before. Solar edge app is great to use and straight forward. Highly recommended company thanks NRG. I am excited to use my new solar system!"

"Jess and his crew did a great job recently repiping my house, both the water supply and drain lines. Jess is easy to work with and very responsive. His price was very reasonable. He came back promptly to fix some very minor issues I found (tiny leaks from the kitchen sink drain and from one of the outside faucets). Everything is fine now. The sprinklers in my backyard work better now because they're getting more pressure than they got from the very old galvanized pipes that were replaced. I'm happy to recommend him."

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts

Solar roofing shingles may qualify for significant federal tax incentives through programs like the Residential Clean Energy Credit, which offers up to 30% of installation costs through 2032. State and local governments often provide additional credits, and utility companies may offer further rebates or net metering programs, depending on the state. Just look into the qualification requirements beforehand because installation, documentation, and technical standards can impact eligibility. Consult the current guidelines and a tax professional to maximize available benefits.

The average homeowner needs around 22 solar panels, but the exact number depends on your monthly energy consumption. Your solar professional should size your array to offset your consumption, meaning you’ll need fewer panels if you use below-average amounts of electricity, or more than 22 if you use above-average amounts of electricity. The number of panels also depends on the output of each panel. The average is around 400 watts, but you might need more panels if you install less capable equipment. Since there are so many variables, you should have a professional size your system.

Yes, it is possible to install solar panels on a tar and gravel roof, but it is not the ideal roofing material for a solar installation. The process requires roof penetrations to install the solar racking system. While installers will seal these penetrations, they still increase the risk of leaks. This risk is higher on tar and gravel roofs, which are often flat. Flat roofs are more prone to leaks than sloped roofs because they can pool water during heavy rain and hold snow for longer periods, exposing the roof to more moisture.

The time it takes to install solar panels depends on the number of panels and the size of your home, but installation takes between two and three days of work. While most contractors can install the panels over the course of a couple of days, switching to solar energy can take two to three months in total. This includes the time it takes to design the system, procure the parts, obtain the permits, install the panels, connect to the main power grid, and get an inspection.

You can install solar panels on a metal roof, but it will require some additional thought and care versus a traditional asphalt shingle roof. That’s because heat dissipates off a metal roof differently than asphalt or wood, so you may need to space the panels further from the roof. However, a pro can help you with the details and provide a safe and effective installation.
