"All work was done except installing the new vanity. I verbally told him I would keep the last $1000 until He came back and installed the vanity. He said he would come right over and install it when I got it in, that he needed to pay his guys for the work that has already been done. Because he said he would come right over in two or three days to install the vanity after I got it, I believed him and I paid the last $1000."

"Due to some renovation and repair work, there were large areas of ceiling over the kitchen and master bath where the insulation had been removed. The rest of the house had old cellulose insulation that had been settling for several years. All in all, in the winter cold the lack of insulation was noticeable. RJL Installation ran a special with a discount on Angie's List to pay $149 for $500 worth of installed attic insulation.  I bought the special and was contacted by RJL. I was really only wanting the areas where insulation was missing to be covered, but it turned out that the cost was not much greater to get the entire attic covered. I was somewhat taken aback by the total price ($1,149.50 on top of the original $149.00), but decided that the insulation was needed in any case, so that was why I gave the C rating for price. I felt a bit trapped because I had already paid for the discounting and didn't know how to get that money back if I had decided that I didn't want to pay as much as the final quoted price.
The installer thought that there should be some sort of access port or window or something to get into the attic from outside the house, and seemed surprised that the house was built with only a hallway ceiling opening for attic access. Once we established that that was, indeed, the only way to get up there, the installer proceeded to bring a large hose through the front door and the hallway and into the attic. When he was in place, his assistant started feeding compressed bales of fiberglass-like insulation through a machine that broke up the compressed insulation and "fluffed" it and blew it through the large hose to be blown in place. When the installation work was completed, I was invited to climb the ladder to take a look at the coverage, using a large flashlight as my light source. From the ladder, the insulation looked to be level across as much of the attic as I could see (almost all the attic, in truth), and appeared to be deep enough to be effective. When they were finished with the installation, the installer and his assistant borrowed a broom and managed to sweep up almost all of any insulation that had found its way to where it was not wanted.
All in all, an acceptable job. I thought about giving an overall rating of B, but except for the price, the other categories rated an A.

"Ilum Solar did a great job with our system’s installation. The price was competitive and they use top notch and highest quality components such as Enphase microinverters. I have referred them to friends and family and they have also installed systems for them!"

"Exceptional product and service, Long's Air Heating and Cooling put in a system that is more effective and efficient for my home than was installed previously. They arrived as scheduled and where professional and courteous. Cleaned up everything nicely. I have already recommended them to family and friends and will continue recommending them. P.S. "I wanted two light fixtures replaced.  One I wanted to use a antique glass cover and so I had tried to buy something that would allow me to use that cover.  Well, it did not fit properly but Thomas explained how I could add it easily later.  Both new fixtures are in and working fine.  They left my house cleaner than when they came in. Polite and professional are the best way to describe Thomas and Dave.  I felt completely comfortable with them in my home.  I ask for a bid for future work.  Thomas not only gave me a accurate bid but also the name of the whole house fan so I could look up how it is rated.  I am very happy with their work, their professionalism, and the price.

"MJ Quality Builders does new houses as well as remodeling. They are currently doing work in Pebble Beach on a house I represent. Their work is of the best quality at a reasonable price. Best of all is the short time they take to complete a project. Their design ideas and input are invaluable. I highly recommended them. I will certainly use them again."

Chandelier Installation questions, answered by experts

Generally speaking, you can install one recessed light for every 4 to 6 square feet. A 12x12 room is 144 square feet, which would need 24 to 36 recessed lights. The wattage you use for the light bulbs and the height of your ceilings can also impact the number of recessed lights you need for a 12x12 room.

Recessed lighting comes in hundreds of designs. Modern LED recessed lights have a longer lifespan than traditional incandescent bulbs. You can get integrated wafer canless bulbs that fit flush into the ceiling, even under a joist. In the can vs. canless recessed lighting discussion, both have their merits depending on your budget and ceiling space.

The housing for high-quality recessed lighting can last a lifetime. But how long the bulbs last depends on the type you choose. LED lights are the most common and tend to last the longest, often 30,000 to 40,000 hours. Compare that to incandescent bulbs, which only last for 1,000 hours or so.

Using lighting controls on motion-sensor lights allows you to set the brightness, how long the light stays on, and on the luxurious end, even where to aim the light. However, these controls are considered a premium, so prepare to pay at least an extra $50.

Installing a light fixture usually takes about one to two hours for a standard ceiling-mounted fixture, and longer for more extensive installations. The installation time can vary depending on the type of fixture, whether you’re installing a new fixture or replacing an old one, and any additional wiring or drywall work required to finish around the new fixture. When hiring an electrician to install your light fixture, ask them to provide a time estimate based on the specifics of your project.
