"As a first time home owner, I was afraid of having trouble with my project, having Cesar and his team work on my home was a very easy and successful project. My roof was replaced and backyard porch was built. Cesar walked me through the different options and we got started what fit me best. I 100% recommend ENC Construction to anyone looking for a honest and quality contract."

"Shaun made the process of my kitchen repair very easy during a time that was pretty stressful for my family. We had a sink leak and needed to repair parts of the kitchen with water damage. As a result we were working with an insurance adjustor which can be stressful for any contractor. Shaun was a professional and really helped in communicating with the adjustor. He also finished the work multiple days early which was much appreciated since we were in a hotel during repairs. It allowed us to focus on the next stage of our repairs the painting and move ahead of schedule. He also repaired a cabinet that was previously broken and not part of our project without me even asking. I really appreciated his kindness in doing this."

"I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

Customers say: Quick response

"spoke to the owner of Brandi homes, I had a lot of questions, he was able and willing to answer all. He seems very professional and willing to help in any way he could. We did not continue with our thought of building a home at this time, however if and when we do we will diffenately be in touch with Brandi Homes again."

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

It is almost always more affordable to buy an existing home than to build a new one. Building a home involves numerous costs, including labor, permits, inspections, utility hookups, and brand-new materials, finishes, and appliances. Additionally, new construction loans can have higher interest rates than traditional mortgages, and property taxes on new homes are often higher, increasing long-term costs. An exception is a DIY house build, which can be cheaper than buying an existing home if you do the labor yourself. While building is generally more expensive, a new custom home offers complete control over the layout and design. Furthermore, new construction is typically worth more than a comparable pre-owned home and may provide a better return on investment if sold quickly.

You don’t typically need a permit to build a shed, but it’s best to check with your local city clerk to make sure before you start the project. Every town, city, and municipality can have different rules when it comes to any home improvement project. Homeowners associations sometimes have restrictions on the materials you can use on your property as well.

The difference between a pole barn and a stick-built barn is in the construction. Large poles in the ground provide support for pole barns. For stick-built barns, 2-by-4 or 2-by-6 lumber (known as sticks) create a frame around load-bearing beams. Stick-built construction is far more popular for residential homes. Pole barns are more cost-effective because they require fewer materials and less labor.

Generally speaking, building a swing set is cheaper than buying a prefabricated one, but this assumes you have all the tools and knowledge to complete the project. The average cost to build a swing set is $514, but you should also factor in the time and effort it will require—if you don’t want to give up your weekend, it’s worth considering buying instead of building.

Pole barns and carports are similar in that they rely on posts for support and are often not connected to a primary structure. The main difference between the two is that pole barns usually include walls that surround the entire perimeter of the structure, while carports generally remain open on three or four sides. It’s possible to insulate garage doors and even exterior walls on pole barns to create a comfortable workspace, and it’s a bit more secure for storage purposes. However, carports are more affordable.
