"Professional, Efficient, and Clean Work hired Mr. Lee to patch a damaged section of my kitchen wall, and I'm very pleased with the results. He arrived on time, completed the job in about two hours, and left the area neat and tidy. The patch blends seamlessly with the surrounding wall-smooth finish, no visible seams, and ready for paint. If you need reliable, high-quality drywall repair without the hassle, I highly recommend Mr. Lee. Great value for honest, skilled work!"

"We had Lugo’s Construction come out to repair a door at our home, and we were very impressed with their service. Pedro responded promptly even though it was the weekend, which we really appreciated. Communication was clear and professional from the start. They were arrived exactly when they said they would, and completed the repair efficiently and effectively. The door works perfectly now, and the whole process was smooth and stress-free. We would definitely recommend them and are already working with them for future projects. Thank you Pedro!"

"Adrian responded promptly, arrived in time for the bid and again when he started the job, cleaned up (completely) when the job was done, and the work was perfect (badly distorted drywall between two hall doorways he floated the wall and restored the knockdown to where you can t tell there was ever a problem). The work performed was a great value. I ll definitely call them again, if I have another project."

"I had a mixed experience with Douglas. The curtain rods were not hung straight. No tools were used such as a stud finder or measurement tool. The wall-affixed garden hose was drilled in the wrong place and a second hole needed to be made into the side of my home. Caulking was used to fill the hole but damage was done. I recommend getting an in-person estimate from Douglas for your repairs. Fee $400 covered book shelf reinforcement, hang 4 curtain rods, hang 3 large frames, affix 2 retractable garden hoses to sides of home."

"This company went above and beyond on my property. After years of being told stains would not come up on my driveway they were able to make it look like brand new. They did a great job on my house and windows as well. I actually referred them to 5 of my friends and everyone is thrilled with their work. -John From Grand Terrace"

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

Failure to compact the soil during construction is the most common cause of leaning retaining walls. In addition, poor drainage can lead to excessive water pressure behind a retaining wall, pushing against it until it begins to move forward away from the soil it is holding back.

Sand and gravel are two suitable options for filling behind a retaining wall. If you’re building your own retaining wall, you’ll complete this part of the process—known as backfilling—after you finish laying the blocks. Make sure not to skip it—otherwise, you could wind up with drainage issues, which can cause your retaining wall to collapse.

If you don’t backfill a retaining wall—either at all or adequately enough—the wall won’t drain well, and water will be able to pass through it. Poor drainage will lead to a warped wall or a buildup of hydrostatic pressure, which can eventually collapse your retaining wall. If you have particularly sloped land, consult a structural engineer to ensure your hardscaping is adding value to your home.

Generally speaking, a retaining wall should be between 3 and 4 feet high, depending on variables such as the wall-building material, the purpose of the retaining wall, and more. If you want your retaining wall to be taller than 4 feet, check with your local building ordinance office for the maximum allotment. You may also need a special permit for retaining walls over 4 feet tall.

While vinyl is the least costly material for building a retaining wall, the most cost-effective method is to use wood or concrete blocks for a DIY retaining wall under 2 feet tall. Wood is inexpensive but lasts 20 years or more with care. Concrete can cost a little more but is stronger and will last longer with less maintenance.
