"They were very professional through out the entire process and conscience of the weather when it came time to install, so that they would ensure there would be no damage to the roof in the process. They completed the project on time and it turned out great! I would absolutely use them again and recommend them to family and friends."

"Hasn't been long since I purchased this house as an investment property, but the outside needed a little work. The driveway was mainly gone. I guess the concrete was not used properly and the rest of the driveway was just a mess. These fellows came and removed the old concrete and poured in a new layer. Now it looks like a real driveway to pull up and park."

"We had 3 bids for a large driveway project. All three were in the same price point. But Rod took the time to talk us through the project and then sent us a bid by email. We followed up and then made plans to have the work done. He had a family emergency and we were set back a week, but he called to let us know and then showed up the next time as promised. He was able to do the work while we were on vacation, and then we settled up when we got back. Rod is honest and trustworthy and knows asphalt. The driveway looks great, and it updated and finished the appearance of our home. We would hire him again in a heartbeat. You should as well."

"I had a garage added to the back of my house. My house never had one so I wanted one since it's always good to have that extra storage and I needed a place to store one of my vehicles. Everything was greatly done. The only big process was really getting the plans approved. But Chris did his part and stayed on top of his communication with the city. As soon as my plans got approved the guys started working right away! Greatly done. Thank you very much. I am so happy with my extra garage space.

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

New asphalt goes through two stages: drying and curing. Drying typically takes 24 to 72 hours, after which the surface is solid enough for light use like walking or careful driving. While you may be able to park on it after 72 hours, the surface is still soft and should be treated gently. Full curing is a much longer process, taking anywhere from 30 days to a full year for the asphalt to reach maximum strength. During this extended curing period, the asphalt is susceptible to damage from heavy vehicles, sharp objects, and high temperatures. Factors like weather, the specific asphalt mix, and application thickness all influence drying and curing times. For the most accurate timeline and to ensure the longevity of your new asphalt, it is always best to consult with your installation contractor for their specific recommendations.

At a depth of two inches, a ton of asphalt covers around 80 to 100 square feet. However, the thicker the asphalt, the less surface area it will cover. That’s why measuring correctly is essential when estimating asphalt needs and costs to ensure you get enough material to cover your entire driveway, patio, or other asphalt surface.

Gravel is the most economical and least expensive driveway material, costing between $1 and $3 per square foot. This is significantly cheaper than alternatives like asphalt or concrete. However, it's important to consider long-term costs, as gravel driveways require regular maintenance. You will likely need to add new gravel filling once or twice a year and regularly rake it to keep it level, which can add to the overall cost over time.

Wet cutting is usually the preferred method. It controls dust, which helps protect your lungs and makes for a cleaner working environment. Plus, the water cools the blade, preventing overheating and prolonging its life while providing smoother, more precise cuts. The downside is the mess—water and asphalt sludge can be messy to clean. Dry cutting, though convenient if water isn’t available, creates a lot of dust, which can be harmful. This also increases the risk of blade damage due to overheating. So, if you have the option, wet cutting is the better method for most asphalt jobs.

When hiring an asphalt paving contractor to install your driveway, ask as many questions up front as possible. Here are a few questions to ask a prospective driveway contractor:

  • How many years of experience do you have?

  • Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?

  • Do you have worker’s compensation?

  • Do you use subcontractors on your projects?

  • Do you clean up after the job is done?

  • Who is responsible for any damage to lawn or landscaping?

  • Do you provide a guarantee or warranty on your work?

  • Do you give free estimates?

  • What is the timeline for completion?

  • How do you handle change orders?

  • Can you provide at least three references?

  • Can I see some of the work you’ve done?
