"This contractor performed the service efficiently, and provided the analysis and options for the sewer line. I felt he was honest with the options and did not try to sell additional services that were not warranted, in my opinion."

"W have a large property far from the street so replacing the sewer was expected to be a huge inconvenience. To our surprise, Discount Plumbing technicians were able to replace our sewer without disturbing much of our property and we were able to still function in our house most of the time. And the work was done in a few days as opposed to the expected 2 weeks time. We did not have the funds to pay for the necessary repairs and replacements, but they offered a personal le payment plan to accomplish what may have been impossible for us. We are very glad we made the call to Discount Plumbing."

"I called Top Tier Plumbing when I needed plumbing done in my Master Bathroom. Taylor, the owner came and was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He changed a shower valve for me, installed a new toilet, and changed out 2 faucets. The work was completed very quickly, but he didn't skip any steps, the work was Top Tier lol. I highly recommend Tayler and Top Tier for any plumbing projects you might have."

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

First, find the cleanout pipe in your yard. Unscrew the cap—you may need a wrench to do so. Then, get a drain snake. You can use a non-motorized one, but a motorized snake will make the job a little easier. Feed the snake through the pipe until it reaches the clog. Spin the snake continuously, but don’t try to feed it through the pipe anymore. Keep spinning until you feel it break the clog apart.

Homeowners insurance usually doesn’t cover sewer backups because it’s typically an avoidable problem with proper maintenance. The only exception would be if the backup is occurring because of local flooding and only if your city uses a combined drainage system for stormwater and sewage. If that’s the case, your policy should cover any resulting damage.

With a one-way cleanout, you can access your sewer line from one direction. Depending on the way it curves, a plumber can either access the side of the pipe that goes into your home or the side that goes to your yard. On the other hand, two-way cleanouts allow pros to access both sides of the sewer line, thanks to their dual-pipe design (they’re usually U-shaped).

You could be smelling sewer gas in your kitchen because of a dry P-trap, clogged vent pipe, or leaking plumbing seals. If you smell a rotten egg odor, check your sink’s P-trap and plumbing connections first. A clogged or damaged vent pipe can trap sewer gas and push it back into your kitchen through the plumbing pipes. Loose or deteriorated seals around drainpipes can also allow sewer gas to leak out. If you can’t find the source, call a local plumber for expert help.

No, you should not see water in a sewer cleanout. If you do, it could indicate that you have a block or leak in your main sewer line—which can cause sewage to back up inside your home and potentially flood your yard. Your best bet is to call a local sewer cleaner if you notice any water or sewage around your cleanout.
