"

Scott at Drakes Carpet Cleaning is very professional and knowledgeable about his business.  He is also very generous with his time, answering questions, providing  helpful information, and explaining the process.  I was very pleased that Scott agreed to clean our rugs for a competitive price despite the fact that it was a small job.  He made us feel as though we were valued customers.

Our rugs looked great when he returned them in a week's time.  One rug had a mysterious stain and Scott was upfront that it might be hard to remove.  It couldn't be removed entirely but was much improved.

I had questions about rug pads and Scott brought samples for me to look at and explained their properties.  He even gave me a small one that was cut from surplus padding.  Kind of him.

I'll be calling Scott when the time comes for us to have our large rug cleaned.  Drakes is now our #1 choice in rug cleaning.  We have confidence in the quality of the work and feel we will be charged a fair price.  It's so refreshing to have a service provider you feel you can count on.

"My original call was handled politely by Ed and he clearly explained the process and verbally estimated the total cost based on the size of my house, we then scheduled the cleaning appointment. The on-site tech James and his assistant were on-time, courteous and professional. The cleaning was completed within the expected 2-3 hour window and no mess was left at completion. No issues were encountered during or after this service."

"They are wonderful. I also refer them out multiple times. I have been using them for a long time. They do a great job cleaning and always flexible on timing. They do both the move in cleaning with windows cleaning carpets etc and the regular cleaning that is needed. Anyone that chooses to go with them will be very happy. I referred them recently to a client and they were very satisfied with their service as well."

Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The best way to clean kitchen cabinets is to use a soft cloth soaked in warm water and mild dish soap. For areas that require a stronger solution, a mixture of baking soda and vinegar is the best choice. If your cabinets are made of sealed hardwood, you can deep clean them using a steam cleaner, but other cabinet materials are exempt from this type of cleaning.

House cleaners typically charge by the hour, with average rates ranging from $40 to $50 per hour per cleaner. The total cost depends on factors like the size of your house, the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and the specific services you request.

A standard cleaning session generally costs between $120 and $240. However, the price can be significantly higher for very large homes or comprehensive services. Keep in mind that add-on services, such as cleaning windows or ovens, will cost extra.

Deep cleaning is more expensive than a standard session—often at least twice the price—because it involves more time and effort, such as moving furniture to clean underneath and reaching difficult areas. Due to the cost, some recommend hiring professionals for seasonal deep cleans while managing regular weekly or biweekly upkeep yourself.

A professional cleaning service generally takes a few hours, typically between 2 to 4 hours, depending on the property's size and the severity of any stains. Keep in mind that wet cleaning methods will require additional drying time.

Having dust in your home doesn’t automatically make your house unhealthy, but it can contribute to allergies and other respiratory issues. Dust is a mix of tiny particles that include dirt, dead skin cells, dust mite body parts and droppings, animal dander, and pollen, so breathing in excessive amounts isn’t good for your health. Dust accumulation can also accumulate in fabrics, mattresses, and rugs, as well as harm electronic devices if it builds up inside the system.

Vinegar can be used as an all-purpose cleaner for many things, including hot tub filters. Soaking hot tub filters in vinegar and water for up to 24 hours can remove dirt and oil, and as a bonus, it won’t cause the water to foam after you reinstall it if there’s vinegar left on it. But make sure you still rinse it to remove any debris, dirt, or grime stuck on it.
