"Handyman JC was on time and courteous. I needed some help with my AC, re-caulking my tub, and a special carpentry project (I needed a removable screen above my front door to keep birds out). Price was reasonable. I have more projects and plan to contact him again in the near future!"

"Fantastic! The job I gave Edison (owner of the business) was to mount a flat screen TV above the fireplace and to fix the fireplace screen. He ia a very proficient and professional handyman. The job he complete was excellent. The best part besides his skill was that he was a very personable person to talk to as he was completing the job. His prices are very REASONABLE. He is now on my speed dial and will always use him in the future. In conclusion I highly recommend this handly service."

"Antony was a pleasure to work with. He was punctual, professional, and pleasant and easy to work with. He went above and beyond expectation and was also accurate about things like material cost and time it would take to provide a great service in all ways."

"I hired him to fix an outdoor leaking valve and couldn’t be more happy with his services. He scheduled a time that worked best for me first, and was very prompt with his communications around the quote and his arrival time. The end result was not only repaired, but improved for the original. I couldn’t recommend his business enough."

Caulking Services questions, answered by experts

In most states, handypeople do not need to be licensed to perform simple home repair tasks and smaller jobs. When projects exceed specific cost amounts, however, ranging from $500 in California to $50,000 in other states, some municipalities consider them to be contractors, meaning they need to be licensed. To learn if your handyperson should be licensed to work on your job, contact your local governing body or state contractors’ licensing board before starting any work.

Many contractors prefer checks because they’re easy to track and have no associated fees. However, many also accept credit cards (though they might add a fee to cover their processing costs).

Before hiring a handyperson, it's important to ask several questions to ensure they are the right fit for the job. Key areas to cover include their experience, logistics, and job specifics.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • What kind of work do you specialize in?

  • How long have you been doing this kind of work?

  • Are you licensed and insured?

  • Do you have references?

  • Can you provide before-and-after photos of your work?

Estimates and Contracts:

  • Do you charge for estimates?

  • Will you provide a written estimate and contract?

  • Does the estimate cover both labor and materials?

  • How much do you expect materials to cost?

Project Details and Guarantees:

  • When can you start the job, and how long do you expect it to take?

  • Do you provide a guarantee for your work?

  • Will you handle cleanup and waste disposal after the job is finished?

  • Do you have any questions about the projects on my list?

Most professional appliance removal companies will not expect a tip, but offering one is a good way to show appreciation for a job well done. A tip of 10% to 20% is a good idea if your professionals are working in the rain or snow, if they take extra care not to damage your walls and furniture in the removal process, or if they need to maneuver the appliance through tight spaces or up or down stairs to get it out of your home.

Tipping contractors, builders, or general contractors is not customary or expected. Unlike many service professions where tipping is built into the payment structure, construction professionals typically charge a full rate for their services. However, you may choose to tip a worker for exceptional service, such as if they go above and beyond, stay late to meet a deadline, or work on a holiday weekend. Before offering a tip, it's a good idea to ask about the company's policy, as some prohibit their employees from accepting gratuities. If you want to show your appreciation for a job well done without giving a cash tip, consider writing a positive online review or offering to serve as a reference for potential new customers.
