"I had a water leak in a difficult position underneath my kitchen sink. I contacted His and Hers Plumbing through Home Advisor. Daniel quickly responded to my inquiry and was able to come by and provide a quotation for the repair. Daniel performed the repair and also assisted me with the replacement of the kitchen faucet. The repair was excellent and it was a pleasure to have Daniel in my home helping me with the problem. I would definitely contact Daniel again if I have any plumbing issues in the future. Thanks Daniel!"

"The sales agent never when presenting his product, never showed me different prices of walk in tubs, but just quoted me their highest prices. Then when I asked about different price in the tub, he showed me a pic of 1 and told me to take a picture of it, never talked about the qualities or anything concerning it."

"I don't write reviews, but I had to share this about Raphael. I can't say enough about Rafael and his crew. They did an amazing job on my bathroom remodel. I did a total gut and they brought my vision to life. They were prompt and cleaned up daily. Raphael is honest, friendly and has competitive rates. I will definitely hire him again for my upcoming bathroom project. I highly recommend Rafa Construction for your bathroom remodel."

"This plumber is an absolute lifesaver! I've had persistent pipe issues that multiple other professionals couldn't resolve. However, he took care of this problem and had everything flowing smoothly in under 15 minutes. His skill and efficiency are truly remarkable. I wouldn't even consider calling anyone else for plumbing needs in the future"

"I hired Andy to install a new garbage disposal. I told him in advance, I suspected the breaker had tripped. My health issues prevent me from pursuing it. He Told me what he was replacing, ,the cost, and came over. The first thing I had him do was check the breaker and after reset it worked fine. I asked how much for a wasted trip and he said, it was being a good neoighbor so it was $0"

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

While tubs are fairly sturdy, you may notice cracks or holes. This kind of damage can happen from someone accidentally dropping something heavy into the tub. You might also see damage if you drop something heavy into the tub over and over again (like your extra large bottle of body wash). While you might only notice a small dent at first, this can later turn into a crack or a hole.

Also, certain cleaners that are harmful to your tub can cause damage. And if you have a fiberglass tub, you might see cracks if it was not installed properly with the right support.

If your bathtub is in overall good shape with minor scratches, discoloration, or just general wear and tear, it's best (and less expensive) to refinish it.

If your tub has large cracks, is leaking, or is otherwise severely damaged, we recommend replacing it with a new bathtub. Refinishing a bathtub can only fix superficial problems, so these issues will still be present or reappear after a refinishing.

You should consider replacing your bathtub if the tub—or any potential refinishing—is older than about 20 years old. However, acrylic and fiberglass bathtubs have a shorter lifespan (about 10 to 15 years). You may decide to replace your bathtub sooner if there are stains or mold you can’t get rid of, no matter how much you clean it, or if you find leaks and cracks that could lead to costly water damage.

The most common type of tub is the alcove; most bathtubs are shower and tub combinations. Many suburban homes feature these as the default option because they allow the flexibility for users to take a bath or a shower—a notable benefit for those with pets and young kids.

Start by gutting the old fixtures and features that need to be removed, such as the tile, vanity, and flooring. You may benefit by removing the toilet, even if you intend to use the same one. Next, install the new shower or tub, followed by the flooring, and then the drywall, which you should then paint. After that, install your new cabinets, vanity, countertop, sink, and faucet, in that order. Replace your light fixture next. Lastly, reconnect the toilet.
