"My wife and I decided to used Angi to find a reliable contractor to remodel our kitchen. Out of all the bids we received, we felt most comfortable with WJB Construction. From the get-go, Josh and Katy were patient, informative and most of all detailed-oriented. This carried true from the initial design/planning stages to the actual physical work carried out by their amazing team. Josh oozes confidence in his craft and Katy is a master in the art of coordination. She kept us notified at each step of the process and scheduled work around our busy schedule. However, they both share incredible vision. They provided valuable input throughout the process and even encouraged us to explore design choices that we were unaware of (corner cabinets & lazy Susans!). This led to an amazing kitchen that we love and can’t wait to use to its full potential. Overall, we believe we made the right choice. WJB construction was a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend!"

"I asked for an estimate on adding 4 x 20amp outlets to the kitchen area. Old house were 15 amp outlets and lights flickered constantly. JNR quote was very reasonable compared to other companies. Raul was there lead person that came to the house and listened to our needs and gave us advice that ended up saving us money for not adding unnecessary work. After receiving the quote we set a time for the work to begin. He wanted to start on Friday. I informed that we have blown insulation being done on Friday. He checked his calendar and rescheduled for Thursday at 8:00 am. He and Nick showed up on time and ready to start. They work together very well. Unfortunately for Nick he had the attic work. After drilling there holes to run the new wire Nick was able to move 7 Ethernet cables and 1 coaxial cable from one bedroom to the living room. Yes that was extra charge but well worth it. It got Hot in the attic. July weather in Visalia, CA. Job was completed by 1:30 and power was restored. They double checked their work and cleaned up there mess. We are planning to add 2 additional outlets for a jacuzzi and extra outlet. They looked at the next project and discussed how it would the work would be accomplished. With that info Raul will be sending out a quote for that next project. Can’t wait to Hire them again."

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

The most common scale for residential blueprints is 1/4 of an inch equals one foot. This scale is the most popular because it’s easier for everyone involved, from professionals to homeowners, to understand the building’s actual dimensions. Also, it allows blueprints to have the necessary details without cluttering the page.

Mediterranean architecture comes from traditional building styles of countries on the Mediterranean Sea mixed with French, Greek, and Moroccan influences. There are three main types of Mediterranean architecture: Italian Renaissance, Spanish Revival, and modern.

Some signature components of Mediterranean architecture include red terra cotta roofs, archways, stucco siding, and metal detailing on windows. These homes often have balconies and outdoor living areas.

Federal architecture is most common in urban areas throughout the New England states, including the older parts of New York, Pennsylvania (namely, Boston and Philadelphia), Maryland, Massachusetts, and Virginia. The style also dominated in parts of Georgia in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, so many historical homes in the area embody this home design. Salem, MA, has two historic districts that predominantly feature this architectural style: Chestnut Street District and the Salem Maritime National Historic Site.

Yes, many providers offer design consultations to create unique structures. Confirm with your contractor.

Yes, new home construction will always require building permits, no matter where you live. In most cases, you’ll need a general construction permit, along with plumbing and electrical permits for the utility lines in your home. Depending on where you live, you’ll likely find that you also need permits for things like connection to a sewage system or installing exterior components, like decks, driveways, patios, and curb cutouts. Leave navigating the permits required for new home construction to a professional to ensure your home is built legally and safely.
