"Joan was available right away to come out for an estimate and gave a very reasonable price for the work needed (full removal of very large tree in backyard) and trimming on two other large trees. The crew was available to do the work two days later and completed it in less than a full day, including cleaning up all the branches and leaves. All was taken care of safely and neatly. We appreciate the work they did!"

"I had Ridgeline tree company come out and remove limbs, overhanging the solar panels, and another tree that was dying removed. Ivan and his brother are efficient, conscientious, and hard-working. I highly recommend them and would not hesitate to call them again for further tree work in the future."

"I have used Acacia tree services multiple times to remove a large pecan tree and redwood tree on two of my properties. Jesus did a amazing job both times. Extremely safety conscious despite the difficulty of both jobs. Both jobs required a great degree of care because both trees were very close to the property and large and could have caused great damage if not done properly. I will definitely will be using Acacia tree services in the future. Stump removal went very smoothly as well. All roots have pretty much desintegrated at this point."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Grinding down a tree helps reduce the risk of foundation damage and pests and even helps your home’s curb appeal. Stumps can also be a safety hazard. If grass grows above the stump and someone else mows your yard, they may be in for a rude awakening when they accidentally hit it.

You’ll want to have your palm trees trimmed during the spring, ideally in May, before hurricane season sets in, which generally takes place during the late summer. Palm trees grow fastest over the summer months. You’ll also want to trim your palm trees when you notice:

  • Brown fronds

  • Dry leaves

  • Flower pods

  • Fruit

  • Fronds overgrown in power lines

  • Frond encroaching upon your neighbor’s home or yard

  • Visible damage from a storm

Steer clear of the area and contact your utility company immediately. It will have a website portal and/or a phone number to report downed trees and electrical issues. If the tree appears to be on public land, you may want to call your local government and report the issue there, too.

Burning a tree stump can be effective, but it comes with safety considerations and isn’t always best for every situation. It's essential to check local regulations and assess the safety risks involved. Stumps that are near wooden structures or other non-moveable flammable objects aren’t good candidates for burning due to the risk of the fire spreading. Alternatives like grinding or a DIY stump rotting project might be safer and quicker for getting the job done.

You can remove a small tree from your yard if there’s space for the tree to fall, you have the right tools and safety equipment, and you follow a clear plan of action. You’ll just want to follow the steps above carefully, and ideally, you will have experience doing similar tasks. If you have any doubts that you can do this project safely, though, you should hire a pro.
