"Our home in St Helena was ready for carpentry repairs ( due to dry rot), extensive caulking, and painting (primary color, trim color and accent color). We got five bids for the work, including one from a company which had recently painted two of our neighborsâ properties and received rave reviews from them. All five of the estimators were friendly, accommodating, and inspired confidence. The high bid was almost 2 1/2 times higher than the low bid, though all bidders proposed performing essentially the same work product. We chose VERY well when we selected Ruben Roman for our project. He and his helper did everything that we asked for perfectly, and they did it on time and on budget. Ruben also is an excellent communicator, texting and quickly responding with any questions that arose during the project, and sending daily up-date photos on the days when we were not on site. They both were also very easy, even fun, to work with, and when they found any unexpected issues, especially with the carpentry, they just took care of itâ ¦no extra charge. Weâ ve dealt with many contractors over the years, and have been fortunate in choosing well before. "Steve did a great job on our house, and was as careful as he could be around the planted areas next to the house. His bid was not the lowest, but he quoted better quality paint (as rated by Consumer Reports) and more layers of work -- power-washing with TSP, then a primer coat using Kilz, then two coats of paint. He and his crew were pleasant and neat. It was worth the "extra" (which may not really be any extra amount when considering the additional time and materials involved)."
