He moved furniture, taped and covered parts of the deck, removed old stain down to the bare wood using a chemical cleaner, power washed, sanded and applied the new stain. My deck never looked better! His bid was not the lowest, but he quoted better quality paint (as rated by Consumer Reports) and more layers of work -- power-washing with TSP, then a primer coat using Kilz, then two coats of paint. He and his crew were pleasant and neat. It was worth the "extra" (which may not really be any extra amount when considering the additional time and materials involved)."
