"After the last storm my roof leaked at the ac unit. I got a referral from a friend. Jamie came right out gave me a quote and they came out and made repairs that week. They were knowledgeable and did a great job. They cleaned up and you couldn't tell they had been here except the roof was cleaner than when they got here."

"We recently discovered a leak in our roof and were referred to Lee’s Roofing by a neighbor—and we’re so glad we called them! They were incredibly prompt, sending out an inspector, Matthew Brady, right away. Matthew quickly identified the issue and had a roofing crew scheduled to begin work the very next day. He also connected us with a drywall and painting contractor to repair the interior damage. From start to finish, Matthew was exceptional—professional, organized, and genuinely pleasant to work with. He coordinated the entire project seamlessly, and the whole process was completed within just a few days. The quality of work and the level of service we received exceeded our expectations. We couldn’t be happier with the results and would highly recommend Lee’s Roofing to anyone looking for reliable, professional, and high-quality roofing services!"

"Follow up on Cobex construction company. Looking back over the past two years, my wife and I were looking back at the remodeling of our kitchen, installation of french doors in a our family room with access to a center courtyard with new flowing steps. Installation of beautiful Brazilian Quartz counter tops with no seams, glass back splash, new electrical switches, new designer cook top hood, dishwasher and microwave. Repair to weather damaged doors and full replacement of gutters and an amazing "Cool Coat" exterior paint finish. We recently replaced the double ovens and the commercial refrigerator. It is a joy to come home every day and see the how beautiful, and open Cobex staff has made our home. All of our friends love all of the work and the difference it made. Their excellent workmanship, on time service, clean up and follow up to ensure everything is to our satisfaction has been excellent. Thank you COBEX Construction. "Very prompt response to my inquiry to get my roof gutter cleaned. Rafael arrived on time, did a great job - everything back in order when the job was finished. Rafael is very pleasant and professional; he showed me pictures of the gutters before & after. Price was very reasonable. I am having additional work done."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Generally, hailstones that are one inch in diameter or larger can cause significant damage to a roof. However, smaller hail can also cause damage, particularly when accompanied by strong winds, if it strikes an aging or poorly maintained roof, or if hailstorms are frequent in your area. Hail that is ¼ inch (pea-sized) or smaller poses a minimal risk of immediate, permanent damage, but cumulative impacts can cause deterioration over time. The extent of the damage also depends on the roofing material; hail-resistant tiles like slate or certain types of asphalt shingles can withstand impacts better than other materials. If you are concerned about potential damage after a storm, it is always a good idea to have a professional roofer conduct an inspection.

A gable roof with steep pitches covered in asphalt shingles or wood shakes is the most popular roof for Cape Cod homes. Asphalt shingles started gaining popularity in the early 1900s, so wood shake roofs, which were popular in the 1700s when Cape Cod homes were first built, are the traditional option. You can further modernize your Cape Cod home by raising the roof in the front, back, or both to add living space and change up the traditional single-gable roof with doghouse dormers.

If your home doesn't have gutters, you can still hang Christmas lights on the roof using specialized clips. Use roof clips designed to attach to shingles or fascia. For tile roofs or the edges of the rooftop, consider using parrot clips. Adhesive light-hanging clips are also a great option. It's important to avoid using nails or staples, as they can damage your roofing material. For unique or complex installations, it's best to consult a professional Christmas light installer to find the safest and most effective solution for your home.

Asphalt shingles blister when air gets trapped between building materials, either within the layers of the shingle itself or in adhesives on the undersides of the shingles. As the roof heats up in direct sunlight, the trapped gas expands and creates a bubble in the roof. Eventually, the bubble can pop, leaving an exposed area of decking and underlayment.

A well-maintained tile roof can last anywhere from 40 to over 100 years, with its exact lifespan depending on the material and level of care. Proper maintenance, which includes keeping the roof clean, free of debris, and performing routine repairs for any cracked tiles, is crucial for longevity. The lifespan varies significantly by tile type:

  • Clay, terracotta, and slate tiles are highly durable and can last over 100 years.

  • Concrete tiles typically last from 30 to 100 years.

  • Metal tile roofs generally last between 40 and 70 years.

  • Composite tile roofs have a lifespan of 20 to 50 years.

Be aware that maintenance for a tile roof can sometimes be more expensive than for an asphalt roof.
