"After the last storm my roof leaked at the ac unit. I got a referral from a friend. Jamie came right out gave me a quote and they came out and made repairs that week. They were knowledgeable and did a great job. They cleaned up and you couldn't tell they had been here except the roof was cleaner than when they got here."

"Our roof was done in just a few days and looks great. AAA Roofing did a professional job, removing the old roof shingles with new ones and replaced our damaged facia board. We would use their services again."

"Lee’s management was very helpful. The project supervisor Matthew and the Roofing supervisor Nathan were very knowledgeable, accommodating, respectful, and very ethical. They were personable and helpful addressing any concerns or questions. Their project work crews coordination at every phase of the project was timely and organized. "Follow up on Cobex construction company. Looking back over the past two years, my wife and I were looking back at the remodeling of our kitchen, installation of french doors in a our family room with access to a center courtyard with new flowing steps. Installation of beautiful Brazilian Quartz counter tops with no seams, glass back splash, new electrical switches, new designer cook top hood, dishwasher and microwave. Repair to weather damaged doors and full replacement of gutters and an amazing "Cool Coat" exterior paint finish. We recently replaced the double ovens and the commercial refrigerator. It is a joy to come home every day and see the how beautiful, and open Cobex staff has made our home. All of our friends love all of the work and the difference it made. Their excellent workmanship, on time service, clean up and follow up to ensure everything is to our satisfaction has been excellent. Thank you COBEX Construction. Roofing questions, answered by experts

Using a staple gun to hang Christmas lights on your roof or shingles is not recommended. Puncturing your roof with staples can cause damage, leading to cracks, leaks, and exposure to the elements. Staples are also less reliable than other methods like roof clips. For a safer alternative that won't damage your roof, use shingle tabs.

Always inform your insurance company when you get a new roof. A new roof may entitle you to lower rates or discounts, and if you need to make a claim, they’ll have up-to-date information on your roof. You’ll need to provide documentation—ask your insurance agent what you need to submit to prove you had your roof replaced.

Depending on the type of damage your roof shingles have, you may be able to simply repair them without having to replace them. However, if there are more than a few to repair, replacement is likely the easier option. You may only need to replace a few of them. Repair shingles by applying roofing sealant directly under the shingle's damage and then directly over it.

The proper specifications for furring strips can vary, so you should always consult the roofing manufacturer's guidelines or your roofer. However, general recommendations are as follows:

  • Thickness: Furring strips are typically 1 to 1-1/2 inches thick, meaning standard 1-by or 2-by lumber works well. In areas with extreme winds, a thinner strip may be preferred to limit how much air can get under the roof and cause uplift. A thicker strip can add slightly more insulation but will also increase installation costs.

  • Spacing: The recommended spacing for furring strips is between 12 and 24 inches apart on center. Proper spacing is crucial for ensuring good airflow, adequate drainage, noise reduction, and better energy efficiency. The ideal spacing can depend on the roof's pitch and the specific type of metal roofing being installed.

You can only overlay a roof once. Any additional layers of shingles will add too much weight and may also violate building codes. Once your roof has had an overlay, you’ll need to have a full roof replacement, including a tear-off of all existing roofing materials, when it’s time for a new roof.
