Customers say: True professional

"Luis Gonzalez and his crew have done a very thorough and professional job painting wooden trim on our house and, above all, repairing lots of dry rot on the house, the garage, and the roof of the garage. Luis is very nice and so are the men who work with him. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs a good, conscientious painter for outside or interiors. Peggy Kagel Fairfax, CA"

"They removed the old surface of kitchen cabinets and painted them. They were careful to make sure no paint or spray got into any other part of the house. Their quoted price did not change. I highly recommend them!"

"Steve, the owner, and his associate, Brian, did an outstanding job painting our Junior College home's exterior. I love the way it turned out: off-white body, with a nice black trim. Very classy looking. Both gentlemen were courteous, were on time, worked all day long, paid attention to detail, made helpful suggestions and, above all, were careful to protect our new deck, pavers and shrubs. They also went the proverbial "extra mile", making small repairs, such as replacing a basement vent, painting our security door and re-painting it, for free, when the original color I had selected proved to be the wrong hue. Last, but not least, the overall price for this top-quality exterior painting job was the best bid of the three bids we had solicited. Very, very reasonably priced for a high-quality, beautiful job. In fact, my husband and I were so delighted that we already hired Steve to repaint our base boards in the interior. Thank you, Steve and Brian! And to everyone considering a new paint job for your home, MasterColor Painting is the company for you. You won't be sorry."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

Yes, WD-40 can be used to remove dried paint, including spray paint, from surfaces like metal because it acts as a solvent. To use this method, spray enough WD-40 to completely cover the paint and let it sit for five to ten minutes. Afterward, gently scrub the area with a cloth to remove the paint. Be aware that this method might leave behind a greasy film that can attract dirt.

You should ask a few questions to ensure that your potential lead removal professional is experienced and qualified to handle lead-paint abatement safely, legally, and properly.

  • What are your qualifications and experience removing lead-based paint?

  • Are you licensed and certified to remove lead-based paint?

  • How do you test for lead paint?

  • What methods do you use for lead-based paint abatement?

  • What do you plan to do with the hazardous material when you remove it from the home?

  • Do you do replacement and painting work or removal only?

Pressure washing is the best way to remove paint that’s already peeling from certain types of vinyl and aluminum siding and some masonry. However, if the paint is largely intact and not yet peeling, or if your siding material can’t withstand the pressure, you may need to use other methods, such as chemical paint strippers, a heat gun, a paint scraper, or sanding.

Sometimes you can get away with simply sanding and painting over small areas of peeling paint. However, the problem will likely return quickly, and the ridge between old and new paint will be visible. If you just need a quick fix and won't worry about appearance, chip away the peeling paint as much as possible, prime and paint the area, and skip the spackle step.

Yes, you can pressure wash epoxy floors, but you must take precautions to avoid damaging the surface. While most epoxy floors can be cleaned with a mop, you might choose to pressure wash if the floor is stained, has ground-in dirt, or is covered with mold or mildew. To do so safely, first soak any stains or dirty areas with a gentle cleanser. Use a lower pressure setting with a gentle nozzle, such as a green, white, or black tip, or a 45-degree angled tip. Keep the spray nozzle at least 18 inches away from the floor to protect the surface. Using a surface cleaner attachment or a rotary scrubber can also help prevent overspray. Be cautious if using a power washer that heats the water, as the combination of heat and pressure may be too powerful and could damage the epoxy coating.
