"I was very pleased with Sentry Access, from start to finish. I had the opener replaced. My older garage door (20+ years old) now operates and sounds like a new door. Richard, the technician who did the work, did an outstanding job on both the install and the "tune-up" of the door. I am 100% satisfied with the work from this company, and highly recommend them."

"We have an unusual 20-year old Pella sliding glass door that was sticking and crunching. Mike had the roller replacement that was needed and was able to repair my door in less than a half hour. Very professional and pleasant. Door is running smooth as silk."

Customers say: Super punctual

"Philip is completely what you want from a handyman, punctual, knowledgable and reasonably priced. We agreed on a price for his services and he came the next day to put in the door. He worked methodically and professionally from the get go. My conversations with him while he worked revealed his depth of knowledge about all things household. Doggie door was put in to my satisfaction, and he came up with an idea for added security when we are away that was genius! Also his quote included additional fee for electrical work if needed when the wall was opened up, but turns out no electrical needed to be done, so he dropped the quote down. Then he got out the staircase ladder and went up 15 feet on the stairwell and got my picture hung. All in all I would highly recommend him for any handyman services, and will definitely be calling on him again!"

Doors questions, answered by experts

The most common size for an interior door is 80 inches tall and 28 to 32 inches wide. However, a standard interior door can measure anywhere from 24 to 36 inches wide, depending on its intended use and the available space. According to most building codes in the U.S., a door must be at least 80 inches tall and 24 inches wide.

You can install many types of interior doors without a frame as long as the door is prehung or there is already an existing door in the opening. If the opening has never had a door installed, you will need to install a frame with the door. Consult a professional door installer to inspect the opening to determine whether or not it’s possible to place a door there without a frame.

Depending on the type of French doors you choose, they may be more expensive than sliding doors. Generally speaking, a single in-swing or out-swing French door will cost less than a sliding door, as it contains fewer materials and is easier to install. However, sliding doors usually have a slightly lower price tag, especially when compared to the standard double in-swing or double out-swing French doors.

The average fiberglass door that you purchase from your local door company or home improvement store will last around 20 to 40 years, so fiberglass doors are considered durable compared to other door materials. When properly maintained, it's not unheard of for a fiberglass door to last up to 80 years.

You can use a variety of wood to build a barn door, but the most common options include 1-by boards and 2-by boards for the backing and the decorative boards on the front of the door. Softwoods like pine will save you some money and should hold up well, while hardwoods like maple and oak will stand up to more wear and tear. You could also build the backer out of plywood to minimize the cuts you need to make. Whatever you decide on, make sure the width of the wood is compatible with the mounting brackets you buy.
