"We recently had Mega Power Electric Inc install a solar system and panels. The President and provided excellent communication all the way through the process. He even met with us after installation to explain the almost incomprehensible PG&E bill. Although not the least expensive bid, his was competitive and I felt he was as interested in educating me about solar and the various types of panels and inverter systems as he was in selling a system. He demonstrated how the array of panels would meet our energy needs and as opposed to some of the other companies, wasn't selling us more than we needed. We are very satisfied with our solar system and I highly recommended Mega Power Electric Inc."

"I'm very happy with the work that was done by Landmark construction and energy crew. At first, we met with Ron that came over and met with us about the issues that we had with our water heater and with the bills that we currently pay for electric. Ron recommended us to replace the bulky old water heater and to install a tankless system that will supply hot water immediately and with the use of less gas. We liked that idea and we decided to go for this project. Ron came over to our house with his 2 people that basically took care of all the removal and the installation of the new system. The work that they did took only 2 days from start to finish and now we have more space at the garage, and the bills are much lower than before…."

"I was going to do a kitchen remodel. After some feedback from friends I decided to go with Ocean Seven Builders. Turned out to be a really good choice as they did an excellent job in my kitchen, did NOT leave a huge mess for me to clean up and got the job done in-and-out in a very timely manner (which I can always appreciate!). Good selection of sample materials to choose from and upfront about the costs. I would definitely use Ocean Seven Builders again."

"I contacted R & R Remodeling because they were recommended to me through my church.  They came out to assess the situation promptly and gave me an estimate within just a few days.  The fee seemed reasonable to me, and this window was preventing further progress on our living room project, so we said yes.  They began work the next week.
I was very pleased with the work of Bill the framer who works with R & R Remodeling experts.  He got started a bit later in the morning than I was expecting, but that is the only thing that I have to say that is even slightly less than glowing.  Bill was very knowledgeable and professional throughout.  He was very thoughtful and concerned about getting the window weather sealed and making everything look as if this work never needed to be done in the first place.  He cleaned up after himself as he went along.  He had all the tools he needed for the job with him and worked steadily and efficiently until the job was done.  If only all builders could be like this.  This window is now perfectly installed in our living room wall and we can proceed with trimming it out and finishing our project.  Yay!"

"I just moved into our first apartment together and really had no idea what to do with our kitchen. Thank goodness for the super builders took both of our tastes and combined them in an elegant and modern but casual way. they did such a great job incorporating everything we liked into that kitchen. We absolutely love our new kitchen. Thanks! I recommend them to anyone who wants to renovate their kitchen."

"Gary Tracht and his crew, Candido Marin and Abelardo Portillo, spent much of the last 16 months on a massive renovation of my two-unit home on Vesta Street in San Francisco. We initially hoped the task was limited to a termite problem in a front bedroom on the second of three stories on our home so got a simple, over-the-counter permit for repairs. But the termites had gone through the siding down into the front and south sides of the house and into two bedrooms on the ground level. Worse, Covid restrictions came into place and the City tried to shut down our renovations as "non-essential." All this with a mean rain season the first year and leaks to contain. Gary, Candido, and Abelardo had to carve off the whole front off the home and the whole south side to repair the damage, and they found a weak foundation on the front half of this historic two-unit building, which had to be re-poured and placed. Gary enlisted Kevin O'Connor, Inc to do engineering plans and pull additional permits as the City evolved into a new nightmare, on-line permitting process, which Kevin learned and navigated like the pro engineer he is. The building was carved out down to the dirt, a foundation poured, and four bedrooms re-framed, hardwood floors lovingly installed, custom stucco on the front and Hardiplank siding on the south wall, stair replacement, etc. They are very good with drywall and base molding replacements. The finish on those walls is smooth and perfect. Your eyes are happy to travel over the new paint, onto the base moldings and around closets and windows trims. A renovation at this scale is complex, and included electrical permit/inspection etc. Colm at Graham Plastering was the contractor (whom my family has used three times) placing tinted stucco on the face of the building that resembles marble! We got final on time for the whole job this month. Also, this job was cost effective and so was Kevin O'Conner, Inc (whom I have put onto additional, well performed work as I am an insurance adjuster)."

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

There's no simple answer to which is less costly: wood or metal-framed homes. In most cases, metal building components cost more than wooden ones, while entire metal buildings cost less than wooden versions. However, regardless of the exterior framing or structure, each must meet similar building codes. This means that the costs are about the same, even considering that wood will require more maintenance than metal over time.

Whether it is better to buy or build a chicken coop depends on your priorities, primarily cost versus time and effort. Building your own chicken coop can be significantly more budget-friendly, often costing about half as much as buying a pre-made one. If you have the time and skills, building a coop from scratch is the most economical option. However, if your time or skills are limited, buying a kit and hiring a handyperson to assemble it can be more cost-effective than hiring a carpenter to build a custom coop from scratch. If you want a perfectly constructed coop without sacrificing your own time and energy, buying one is the easiest choice.

Pole barns and carports are similar in that they rely on posts for support and are often not connected to a primary structure. The main difference between the two is that pole barns usually include walls that surround the entire perimeter of the structure, while carports generally remain open on three or four sides. It’s possible to insulate garage doors and even exterior walls on pole barns to create a comfortable workspace, and it’s a bit more secure for storage purposes. However, carports are more affordable.

In the U.S., original and converted carriage houses are most often found in New England, New York, and other parts of the Northeast. New construction carriage houses can be found across the country, and are often added to properties with Colonial-style homes for additional living, storage, or work space, although they can be found in many different styles.

The term “cottage” is subjective, so there’s no rigid definition, but it generally refers to a small home with simple and purposeful architecture that embraces nature and focuses on charm over everything else. Cottages are typically 1 or 1 1/2-stories tall, usually with gabled roofs, and are built out of natural materials that help make the structure a part of the surrounding nature rather than something that stands out from it. A big part of what makes a cottage a cottage is the decor, which includes natural materials from the nearby area.
