"Garafano Electric has being taking care of all the electrical needs and upgrades in our 90 plus year old house for a few years now. They always do A+ work. We're currently in the middle of some home renovations and they've been willing and able to work with our erratic schedule. Honest, dependable, and great at what they do. Can't recommend them high enough!"

"Had an electrician out to give me an estimate on replacing my electrical panel. Decided against replacing it because that wouldn't have solved my issue. My house was built in the 60's so it needs all new wiring. I just had him show me which outlets were on each of the channels so that I could spread out my devices that needed a lot of power, specifically my space heaters."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

As a new homeowner in Fontana, begin with a thorough inspection of your electrical panel, especially if your home has older wiring or a lower-capacity service. Install GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor areas for safety. Ensure smoke detectors are hardwired and up to code. Upgrading outdoor lighting and adding ceiling fans can improve comfort and security, while preparing for future needs like electric vehicle charging is also wise.

Helpful?

In Fontana, if you notice flickering lights, frequent breaker trips, or outlets that feel unusually warm, these are strong indicators that your electrical system may need attention. Homes with older aluminum or knob-and-tube wiring are especially at risk. Missing GFCI outlets in wet areas or outdated electrical panels are also red flags. Addressing these issues helps ensure your home meets current safety standards and local codes.

Helpful?

Before starting electrical work in Fontana, check your home’s electrical panel capacity, especially if your house is older. Review any homeowners’ association guidelines that might affect your project. Plan ahead for permit approvals, which can take extra time during busy seasons. Coordinate with your utility provider if service upgrades are needed, and always verify your contractor’s insurance coverage and experience with similar projects in Fontana.

Helpful?

In CA, address urgent electrical issues—such as sparking outlets, persistent burning odors, or outdated panels—without delay to protect your home and family. Prioritize upgrades like adding GFCI outlets or hardwired smoke detectors before peak summer heat. Less urgent projects, such as installing ceiling fans or additional outlets, can be scheduled for later, while cosmetic updates and smart home enhancements can be planned as your budget allows.

Helpful?

When hiring electrical professionals in Fontana, prioritize those with proven local experience and a solid understanding of the city’s housing types. Look for contractors who are knowledgeable about regional codes and climate-related challenges, such as high summer temperatures. Positive reviews from Fontana residents and a track record of handling permits and inspections smoothly are important. Confirm they carry proper insurance and communicate clearly about project timelines.
