When he sold "the shop" as we called it, he opened his own security system company that included safes. Their current website states they're family owned and operated for decades, but the current owners are not part of our family. They're a family on their own so I guess what they're advertising is true, but it is not OUR family who created and established J&J Locksmiths. So I called their company and I said I had a job for them too (a locked file cabinet I needed opened) and asked them to PLEASE not have their guy leave before he came by and did my job, too. They got in touch with him, and while I was still putting a notice on his van to check with me before he left, in case he hadn't heard from his company yet, he was already upstairs trying to get in to do my job. SO excellent. Turned out he'd done a lock there the week before, of a much more complicated nature. He was able to fix the problem in record time, and ended up not even charging me. - Curb AppealSteve was the first provider who returned my call and he arranged to come by the next morning because of his schedule. He called that evening stating that he was going to be in my neighborhood and asked if it was okay to come by that night. He arrived around 7:30 PM. He disassembled the door handle, latching and deadbolt mechanisms. He lubricated the mechanisms and was able to retract the deadbolt and get the upper and lower latches to open and close which allow me to close the door. Steve was very thorough and he made every effort to get the deadbolt to function again. He finally concluded that the deadbolt mechanism needed to be replace. In addition to being very thorough, Steve was very personable. I appreciated his willingness to come after hours. I will definitely use him again in the future if I need the services of a handyman

"Had extensive dry rot on exterior of my home. Once dry rot trim was removed, additional damaged areas were discovered. They explained the process and the additional areas that need replacement. Each day, I would receive a written update and discussion so that I would be aware of everything ahead of time. They had to create some custom trim to match existing style. Once all rotted trim and boards were replaced, they painted all exterior trim and replaced boards. Everything blended perfectly. Workers kept everything cleaned up before leaving each day. After pressure washing and painting, everything looks great. Job took 4 days. Very happy with the results.

"The original appointment was for Tues, 10/17, between 8 and 10 AM. They rescheduled to 10/19 between 8 and 10 AM. Then that was rescheduled to 10/31 between 8 and 10 AM. The technician, Joseph arrived on 10/31 around 9:15 AM, as scheduled. Joseph appeared to be quite knowledgeable and completed the tuneup by adjusting the spring to balance the door and by lubing the rollers and hinges. However, the next morning the door would not come down. I called early on 11/1 and made an appointment for Joseph to return on 11/2 between noon and 2 PM. On 11/2 they called and rescheduled for 11/6 between 1:30 and 3:30 PM. Joseph arrived around 3:15 PM and made further adjustments on the spring and things were working fine. Although the re-scheduling was very annoying, the technician, Joseph finally left us with a working garage door. His work is the reason I would hire this company again, provided the price was right.
