Customers say: Quick response

"I obtained multiple quotes to have 4 valves & 5 sprinklers replaced. Joe at Peredo's Custom Landscaping not only responded immediately to my inquiry, he came in $240 less than the second lowest quote and $285 less than the 3rd lowest. He also replied to my texts promptly. When my PM didn't coordinate a time to do the work with the tenants, Joe automatically took it upon himself to connect with the tenants and schedule the work. I'm hard to impress...but Joe impressed me."

"Taylor Made put a concrete walkway on the side of my house, from the driveway to the back patio. They removed some roots and routed the gutter pipes under the walkway. They did a great job and I m very happy with the result."

Small jobs welcome

"I contacted Alcantar and Sons because of their recent positive reviews. Rodrigo responded quickly, and I listed the many projects/renovations?concrete patio/sidewalk, security gate, and more. He thoroughly went over measurements and discussed my preferences.  Alcantar's crew was competent, and their work was of professional quality. They're also a nice bunch of guys. Future outdoor projects with Alcantar and Sons are scheduled for after the rains. I'm proud of the new changes to my house, and my friends and family are impressed too."

French Drains questions, answered by experts

There are many things that could cause your basement floor drain to back up. One significant cause of a drainage backup is flushing non-flushable items, such as wipes, paper towels, and facial tissue. Other causes of a backed-up basement floor drain include tree roots impeding the drain pipe or an accumulation of hair, oil, and grease.

To unclog a plumbing vent, you first need to locate it. Look at your home's roofline. The plumbing vent will be a vertical pipe sticking straight up from the roof. Since this pipe runs all the way to the main drain underneath your house, you should also be able to find it in the attic.

Applying drain cleaner is a common DIY solution to clogged drains, but it can be extremely harmful to your pipes and lead to corrosion and leaks. It is almost always better to try snaking a clog than using a drain cleaner, but the best solution is to hire a professional plumber. They can locate the clog and gauge the severity using a camera system and then decide if using a plumber’s snake, auger, or drain cleaner is the best option to remove the clog and limit damage to your plumbing system.

Usually it’s fine to leave a toilet clogged overnight, as long as it’s not close to overflowing. In some cases, the extra time may give the clog time to work itself out. For example, if it’s caused by an excess of toilet paper, letting it sit could result in the clog dissolving and you may be able to simply flush it away by the time you wake up.

Only let it sit though if you have more than one toilet in the home.

No. You should dispose of all oil-based finishing products through a local hazardous waste program. Not only can oil-based finishes be hazardous for the environment if disposed of in the sink, but they can cause clogs in your pipes and stop up your drains. Most municipal garbage or waste disposal companies have a specific location or pick-up schedule for hazardous materials, so that’s your best bet to get rid of excess finishing products.
