"OK - the person worked for TLC contracting.  I doubt she was paid anywhere near the price we paid, and I certainly hope her SSI was paid, but she may not have been a documented worker.  She would generally arrive late (agreed-upon time was 8:30 AM) and start at one end of the house or the other.  She did fine with the vacuuming, sort of OK with washing the floors (could have changed the wash water more), didn't do that great of a job with the sinks (kitchen or bathroom) and didn't scrub under the rims of the toilets (pet peeve; went back a month later and removed all sorts of nasty mold, etc.).

All that was fixable and I could have spoken with her.  What REALLY irritated me was that we wanted to take a month off, so I left a voice mail message with the owner stating we'd call her.  2 weeks later, the cleaning person shows up on our doorstep (I didn't answer the door) with all her stuff, ready to clean the house. Unannounced.  Uninvited. After specific "I will call you" instructions from me.  So basically this owner just sent her out on a fool's errand and no doubt humiliated her.  It was sad, and I felt bad for her.  And I came to the conclusion that the owner was not someone I could trust and was a pretty shady operator."
