"Brian, Pablo and Antonio did an amazing job getting my front yard weeded, shrubs and large hedge trimmed, spruce needles picked up and a new water line dug for my fruit trees! They did everything we agreed on and at the price he quoted. They were polite professional and were Very hard workers!"

"Kevin and Jeremiah did a number of projects for me. Grouting my bathroom floors, reattached a soap dish in master bathroom shower, painted my master bedroom and installed a new motion sensor light in my front courtyard. I'm having him create an accent wall in m/b. I was very pleased with work and how Kevin could immediately assess situation and come up with a price. Very reasonable."

"I've hired Northlands Construction for two jobs now that were too big for me to hande - installing vanities in both bathrooms, and replacing four windows in my living room and dining room. In both cases Thomas gave me a comprehensive and accurate estimate. The crew showed up on time, worked steadily (no leaving for hours in the middle of the day!), cleaned up when they left, and did a top-notch job. In both cases, they found additional damage that needed to be fixed once the walls were opened, and they were careful to check with me to see which of the possible ways of dealing with the situation would be my preference. They were precise, careful, and did an excellent job."

"He did a tremendous job. Very professional in what he does and diligent to make sure things are done correctly. He was great about conserving extra materials and cleaned up after himself daily, you could hardly tell he had been there. High quality work and I would recommend him to anyone with no reservations!"

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

DIY smoke detectors are possible, but professional installation ensures compliance with fire codes and optimal safety.

Yes, spider webs are flammable, taking them from minor household nuisance to something more dangerous. Silk boasts no built-in resistance to fire, though it takes an abundance of spider webs to actually catch fire and spread. A cobweb here and there poses no major fire safety risk, so it’s not a cause for concern.

Yes, it is possible. An electrical fire can break out if the compressor has inadequate ventilation. When it overheats but doesn't have a proper thermal cutout, this can cause the motor to short-circuit and catch fire. This risk is exacerbated if flammable materials, like dust and fallen leaves, are clogging the unit. The compressor overheating won't start a fire by itself, but poor maintenance and installation can increase the risk once it hits its breaking point and short-circuits.

No, a chirping smoke alarm is usually a sign of an issue with the power supply of the unit. This is easily solved by replacing the battery to stop the smoke alarm from beeping. If the chirp continues, review the owner’s manual to determine the cause. These chirps are short and not as loud as the beeping of the alarm itself. If you can’t tell the difference, it’s best to treat it like an activated alarm until you find the cause.

Concrete homes have better fire resistance because this material is highly resistant to fire and heat. But any paint, siding, windows, roofing, or other materials on a concrete home may still be flammable. Never try to stay in a building with a large, active fire or a wildfire approaching because this can still be deadly. However, building a fireproof home with concrete can better protect the structure against total destruction.
