"Humberto is a very creative problem solver! Personable and definitely interested in customer satisfaction, so spends time understanding the full scope of the problem. The problem was the subterranean north wall of the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church in Vallejo that was far from being waterproof, especially with the rains last winter. Castaneda dug out the soil next to the wall, pressure washed it and applied two coats of DryLok and then a layer of Henryâ s waterproofing. Then Humberto installed a French drain and then a big pipe to route the water off of five downspouts. To get the correct drainage slope, more excavating needed to be done than anticipated. Removed five landscaped trees and lots of concrete that was in the way of the drains which were to be routed under city sidewalks."

"Aurelio is an excellent service provider and I wouldnâ t hesitate one moment contacting him again for Ruth supply side or waste side plumbing issues. Great price, and he cleared the bathtub drain in addition to working on the sewer lateral out to the street."

"Marcell Lawson at True Blue Plumbing is a true blue hero when it comes to plumbing. We had a failing water heater and contacted multiple plumbing services. From the outset, he was very responsive, gave more options, paid us a visit quickly, and once we decided he was there quickly and took care of the job. During his visit, we had an additional plumbing issue at the end of the day (which turned out to be a cracked drain pipe in the ceiling above a downstairs bedroom), he let us know he was booked but gave us multiple referrals, one of which took care of us the very next day. AND he called multiple times to make sure we were doing okay. Simple story: Marcell is an awesome plumber and really cares about taking care of people. A+!"

"Brad Sayre landscaping did a garden renovation for us and it is gorgeous! This included removing all old plants, building a stacked stone wall, preparing the soil and irrigation for planting and new, healthy plants. The team worked very hard and was an absolute pleasure. The low wall required a lot of skill and is beautiful. They worked according to a plan, but, of course, had to make adjustments. Turned out better than we anticipated!"

French Drains questions, answered by experts

Plumbers use a variety of tools to help unclog the toughest of drain clogs, but the most common tools they use are drain snakes and augers. They try a plunger or drain snake to start, then move to heavy-duty augers, and finally try using a hydro jetter to blast away the clog with high-pressure water. Hiring a plumber to unclog a drain costs $125 to $300, largely depending on the extent and location of the clog and which of these methods is best for clearing it.

It’s possible to snake minor drain clogs yourself, provided they sit within a foot or two of the drain itself, but it’s usually best to hire a professional plumber regardless. Even experienced DIYers have a high chance of accidentally pushing the clog further into the drain using a drain snake or another tool, so hiring a plumber is the ideal course of action. A professional plumber can use camera equipment to locate and identify the clog, and remove the entire blockage to fix your issue permanently.

Yes, flushing a clogged toilet can make it overflow. While flushing the toilet may push enough pressure through the system to dislodge the clog, this is unlikely. Your best bet is to use a plunger and hope the suction can break up whatever is blocking the pipe. If this doesn’t work, use a plumbing auger or call a pro to help.

Main sewer lines can clog for several reasons. For example, if you regularly dump oil or grease down your drain, it could eventually block your line. Sometimes, tree roots can penetrate and grow inside old sewer pipes, creating a major blockage. Flushing bulky items (like paper towels, diapers, or baby wipes) can also clog your plumbing system.

You should hire a sewer service professional to unclog a main sewer line with tree roots. Tree roots can grow into the main sewer line, and this problem requires a specialized hydro jet, or rooter, that is powerful enough to clear the roots. The tree can also damage the main sewer line, and a professional will need to make repairs or replace the damaged sections. Sewer line replacement costs about $60 to $250 per linear foot.
