"Pacific Coast did this most thorough inspection of the three companies I dealt with. All three companies had a different approach to termite control. One was to do a cursory inspection and offer what is essentially an insurance policy. Another did a better inspection and offered spot treatment and a 3 year warranty. Pacific Coast did a thorough inspection and offered either spot treatments to the obviously infested areas or comprehensive preventative maintenance treatment in addition to the spot treatments. The cost is more expensive than the other companies but the employees inspire confidence in their work."

Animal Removal questions, answered by experts

Foxes are primarily nocturnal, meaning you’re less likely to see one strutting onto your lawn in the middle of the day. However, daytime activity is more common if you have a female with her cubs on your property during the spring and summer. And you can see adaptable urban foxes at any time when regular food is available.

Yes, in some cases if your damper is left open, animals can come down your chimney. In these instances, it’s more likely that they have fallen in while looking for a safe spot rather than entered your house intentionally. Leaving your damper closed or installing a chimney cap can prevent animals from coming inside.

Unlike for rats and mice, poisonous baits and fumigants aren’t a legal option for dealing with squirrel invasions. So, don’t set any traps up using standard rodenticides. Remember that you typically need a permit for trapping and relocating squirrels found on your property. Some states even specify the types of traps you need to use.

You can often spot a venomous snake by looking for a few key physical characteristics. Venomous snakes typically have bulbous triangular-shaped heads due to their venomous sacks, whereas regular snake heads are more rounded and narrow. A venomous snake will also have narrow slits for pupils, while non-venomous snakes have more rounded pupils. It’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with the venomous snakes that are native to your area, but if you find a snake in your toilet, it’s best to keep a safe distance and call a professional for proper identification and removal.

Gophers do not hibernate, meaning you could, at least theoretically, have a gopher problem in your yard any time of year. During the colder parts of the year when soil isn't as easy to work with, gophers may not dig as many holes or be as active and instead will burrow deeper into the earth to go below the frost line to stay warm.

You can expect to see more gopher activity during the spring and fall when warmer temperatures make digging easy, and there is an abundance of new (or recently harvested) plant life available for them to graze on. They come out during the day and sleep at night.
