"When no one locally even responded to my inquiries for a quote, Michelle got back to me the same day with a quote and description of how the repair would be done. It's a slight downside to have to ship one glove coast to coast for a minor repair on one finger. But the cost of shipping and the repair is much less than purchasing another $100 pair of gloves! The repair took a little longer than anticipated, but shipping time had to be factored in as well. Michelle was very prompt with communications during the process. Cost of service below did not include shipping which was about $16 round trip. The glove returned good as new...well as good as it's pair. The glove is two years old. But the seam was totally resewn and reinforced. Michelle stated she did not want to the issue to happen again. I hope it won't. The problem started with my fingers rubbing. Very happy with the service from Premier. I wish they had a shop in Maryland!"

Furniture Refinishing questions, answered by experts

Postponing furniture refinishing exposes your pieces to extreme Clovis heat, causing the current finish to crack and peel. Once the wood is bare, winter moisture and summer dryness cause rapid warping and splitting. Furthermore, agricultural dust settles into these cracks, making future work much harder. Exposed wood also invites local pests like termites. Address failing finishes early to protect your valuable items from severe damage.

Helpful?

Furniture refinishing creates fine dust and fumes that travel directly into your HVAC system. Seal all return air vents in the workspace to protect your ductwork. Modern Clovis homes are built with tight energy seals, meaning fumes linger longer indoors. Solvents also pose a serious fire hazard near gas appliances. Always verify the location of your water heater and furnace before starting any stripping work.

Helpful?

You must follow strict California air quality regulations by using state-compliant materials for any furniture refinishing project. Time your work for the spring or fall, because extreme summer heat causes bubbling and winter fog prevents proper curing. Always monitor local air quality alerts before opening windows for ventilation. Keep in mind that hard municipal water will affect how you clean surfaces and handle water-based finishes.

Helpful?

Protect damaged pieces from intense afternoon sun by moving them away from west-facing windows. During the dry Clovis winter, run a humidifier to prevent the wood from swelling and cracking. Wipe surfaces with a dry cloth to remove agricultural dust, and avoid wet cleaning on failing finishes. Inspect the wood for termite mud tubes or small beetle holes before booking a professional furniture refinishing service.

Helpful?

Prioritize furniture and built-in cabinetry located in west-facing rooms, as afternoon sun causes rapid UV damage. Next, assess pieces in outdoor transitional spaces like covered patios that endure harsh CA weather. You must also inspect built-ins near HVAC vents, as constant temperature changes degrade finishes quickly. Finally, address any indoor items stored in hot garages to prevent severe structural damage before bringing them inside.
