"Jose repaired a window that had fallen out. Replaced screens in the front windows plus put a screw in my front door hardware. He pointed out a few other projects that we will be using him to complete. Great service!"

"Alex is very friendly, professional and honest with his work. He fixed a misaligned door that had been previously "fixed" by someone else in the past. He was able to properly fix the issue and I am so thankful I found him."

Customers say: Quick response

"I hired Froland Carpentry to do a complete rebuild of a deck, replace a back iron fence and replace a kitchen floor. Roland the owner accommodated my timeline of replacing the floor while I was out of town. They discovered a problem left by a previous contractor and they were ready with a reasonable fix. The deck looks awesome and while we replaced the same size and shape as the previous deck, it looks so much better due to workmanship and little details that you don't get with a standard track build. We had a large - very hard working crew at our place as the work progressed. Besides being hard working, each member was respectful and listened. I have worked with a lot of contractors in the past who I would never work with again but I would certainly work with Froland Carpentry again. Bottom-line, they are fast, good price and quality work."

Window Screen Repair questions, answered by experts

Rescreening a door costs an average of $7 to $150. It’s a relatively easy process that only requires 30 minutes to an hour’s work.

The average cost to repair a window is about $400, with prices typically ranging from $175 to $1,500. The final cost is influenced by several factors, including:

  • Number of Panes: Single-pane repairs average around $200, double-pane repairs range from $200 to $400, and triple-pane repairs can cost $600 to $1,100.

  • Type of Repair: Minor fixes for a track, seal, or sash are more affordable than repairs for broken glass or window frames, which are typically the most expensive.

  • Window Details: The size, type, and material of the window affect the price.

  • Accessibility: Windows on upper floors or in hard-to-reach locations may increase labor costs.

  • Other Factors: The extent of the damage, local labor rates, and the need for emergency service will also impact the total cost.

For comparison, a full window replacement can range from $175 to $1,800 or more for high-end materials or large windows like bay or bow windows.

Yes, you can replace the screen without removing the door in most cases depending on the frame holding the screen. Doors with removable spline and screen frames make it a snap to replace the mesh while the door remains in place. The best part is that it’s a simple DIY project requiring a few tools in addition to the screen material.

The steps to replace a retractable screen can vary, but these are the general steps: First, remove the screen cover to expose the screen mechanism and remove the clip that holds the screen in place. Next, depress the end of the screen mechanism so it releases from the door frame. Take your new screen and fit one end into the frame. You may need to rotate the mechanism to engage the spring before inserting the other end into the frame. Finally, pull the screen down the length of the door’s opening and lock it in place with the clip.

Most window screens in residential homes are designed to be removed from the inside, especially with double-hung, single-hung, and casement styles. That said, some setups require exterior removal. Older homes or custom installs may have exterior clips or brackets, and sunscreens are almost always mounted on the outside. Before removing your window screen, look at how it is held in place.
