"I’m so glad I found Axis Team. Mack provided outstanding service. He completed chandelier installations, installed dimmer switches throughout the home, replaced broken the doorbell, fixed a leak, replaced a sliding door handle & lock and replaced broken locks on windows. On time, very responsive to texts, professional, pleasant, cleans up after himself, works very fast and has experience in all things you’d want in a handyman. Highly recommend!"

"Roland is fair and honest. He knows his stuff. What he told me was wrong, and needed to be done, was spot on. He also replaced plywood under the floor and new flooring. Installed new sink, faucet, and garbage disposal. I will be using him again in the future."

Small jobs welcome

"Sean Clarke is nothing like your average handyman and at first seems a bit too cerebral. He showed up, put on a white one-piece oversuit (think Orkin man) and conducted a comprehensive review of the jobsite. I think I heard the wheels turning in his head. Most handymen just look, say Sure no problem and then proceed to do the work in varying stages of competence. Not Sean. He took the time to show me the options, the obstacles and the best solutions (based on time and materials)â ¦making sure I thoroughly understood what was needed. Honestly, I thought he was a nerd BUT, that all changed once he started. The guy came prepared. This was not a glamorous job it was kinda brutal. My roof had just been replaced and there were all kinds of places where rodents could enter and a few holes big enough for a cat or raccoon. The work space was hot, tight and uncomfortable. The nerd did not mind, he put on his knee pads, sprayed his shirt with water from a spray bottle, plugged in a light and fan and went to work. He did not stop until every access point was completely sealed, using a combination of wood, tight metal mesh, nails and that expanding foam stuff to close every little open space. He was done much sooner than expected. And that is when I realized he was not a nerd, he is a thinking man who entered the attic with everything he needed (tools, materials, cold water, etc.) to knock out the job as quickly as possible. I will admit I got a bit claustrophobic when I went up there to inspect his work but sonuvagun, he secured the whole damn attic. He was all smiles, clearly taking pride in his work and I was happy to write his check (for an amount that was more than reasonable). When he first arrived and started pointing out all the logistical stuff, I nearly sent him away thinking, He is gonna charge me an arm and a leg but Sean was just being very direct, making sure I fully understood the challenges and his recommendations which is why I am now writing this review minutes after he left. Look, I own and run 4 businesses, work 100+hrs a week, dont get enough sleep and dont have time to write detailed reviews. My eyes are so baggy they could hold a ten-day rain. You gotta be exceptionally great or horribly awful to get a review outta me and Sean Clarke has earned this. He sets the customer care bar so high, other handymen need to charter a plane just to see it. Hes nothing like other handymen and trust me that is what you want. We will be using his service regularly in the future."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

The most common causes of kitchen fires are leaving cooking food unattended, frying food with excessive amounts of oil, and leaving flammable objects near the stovetop.

No, you can’t completely fireproof a house. There is always a chance that a fire can break out inside or outside your home. Even if most of the home is built with fireproof materials, a long-burning fire can still cause damage. Still, fireproofing efforts can buy you additional time to evacuate and give you a better chance of salvaging your home after a fire rather than needing to rebuild entirely.

You can relight a pilot light by yourself, but it’s not always the safest choice to do so. While the job is straightforward, a small mistake could end in a gas leak, fire, or explosion. That’s why we recommend everyone hire a pro for this job. Local furnace pros have lit dozens if not hundreds of pilot lights, and they’re well-versed and highly experienced in the proper safety protocols to keep you, your family, and your home safe while doing so.

One of the best ways to know your chimney is good to go on any given night is to simply look up into your flue with a flashlight. If you see a thick buildup of creosote—a shiny, dark substance that looks like tar—it’s best to have your fireplace professionally cleaned before you go ahead with the burn. Additionally, having your fireplace professionally inspected once per year can also help increase your peace of mind and keep your family and your home safe.

Yes, a chimney damper is necessary. It controls airflow in and out of your fireplace, helping to retain heat when closed and allowing smoke to escape when open. Without a damper, your home could lose warmth during cold months, leading to higher energy bills. It also helps prevent downdrafts and keeps animals or debris from entering the chimney. In short, it’s essential for efficiency and safety.
