"Sean was such a nice, pleasant young man. He took the time to explain everything he would be doing and answered all my questions. My deal included free dryer vent cleaning, but since my vent goes straight out of the wall, I told Sean he didn't need to do anything with it. He cleaned it anyway! I would definitely hire him and Air Duct Professionals again in the future."

"It was more than a dryer vent cleaning. Also a rerouting of the system. Was done right. I didnâ t expect it to be to pricey, but needed it handled. I would recommend them. And thanked them."

"I wrote a $2,000 check for a bill of $1,640, leaving a gratuity of $360. Dylan and his assistant Andrew came around 11 am after finishing their previous job. They stopped at 8:30 pm, with Andrew putting in 4 overtime hours for the day. Since my windows haven't been cleaned for a few years, it took them unexpectedly longer time to clean. Seeing this, I told Dylan not to rush but to properly clean all the windows and write me a new quote after the job is done. The next day, a Saturday, Dylan came alone and finished all the jobs, including vacuuming the curtains, cleaning the dryer vent, pressure washing my large concrete patios, at around 9 pm. I was very satisfied with his job overall and asked him to write a new quote to reflect the unexpected works involved. He said that it isn’t his habit/policy to alter his original quote. I asked again, and he said that if I was satisfied I could leave him a tip that he would share with Andrew. At that point I gave him the $2,000 check that had already been prepared for him. I felt it was very fair for both of us."

Small jobs welcome

"I just needed a routine cleaning of my dryer vent on the roof. I did not contemplate getting my chimney inspected but I asked them to do it for an extra $99. The two workers were able to come early, which was great and they got right to it. Riley upsold me on some additional services, but I declined. Overall surprisingly good service."

Dryer Vent Cleaning questions, answered by experts

A thorough dryer vent cleanout improves efficiency, reduces energy consumption, extends the dryer's life, and decreases fire risk from lint buildup.

Depending on how much you use it, your dryer should be disinfected about every six to 12 months, especially if you see frequent buildup of lint or evidence of stains from fabric bleeding or ink.

Other signs you should sanitize your dryer more often are overheating, improper drying, excessive humidity, or if you notice a strange odor when it’s running.

As a general rule, you should have your dryer vent professionally cleaned at least once a year to remove lint and debris buildup, which can cause fires and increase energy costs. However, the frequency may need to be adjusted based on usage. If you have a large household, use the dryer frequently, have pets, or have an older vent system, it is better to clean the vent more often, such as every six months or even quarterly. You should also schedule a cleaning immediately if you notice signs of a blockage, such as clothes taking longer to dry, the dryer feeling hot to the touch, or an odd odor. Routine vacuuming is not a substitute for a thorough, professional cleaning.

A dryer vent inspection is simply the process of checking the vent for the possibility of damage or clogs. You can do it yourself or hire a pro. Pull the dryer away from the wall and inspect the portion of the vent that’s behind the appliance for lint buildup or kinks. Check the connection of the vent to the wall for loose parts or lint that’s escaping the vent. Check the exterior exhaust vent for signs of damage or lint blockage. A pro can check the length of the vent inside the wall for you.

The ideal time for dryer vent cleaning is typically during the spring or fall. These seasons offer moderate weather conditions, making it easier to access the exterior vent and work on the dryer without the extreme heat of summer or cold of winter. However, the timing can also depend on your usage patterns. If you use your dryer heavily year-round, consider scheduling cleanings more frequently, perhaps every six months, to prevent lint buildup and reduce fire risks. Ultimately, there is no wrong time of year to prioritize safety.
