"I recently had the pleasure of working with California Custom Pools (Danny) to build a pool in my backyard, and I couldn't be happier with the entire experience. From start to finish, they demonstrated professionalism, expertise, and a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction. The design phase was a super fun and he patiently listening to my ideas and offering valuable insights to enhance the overall vision. They provided a detailed and transparent estimate. The construction process was impressively smooth and efficient. The team showed up on time, and their attention to detail was evident in every step. The quality of workmanship was great, and the final result is a stunning pool that perfectly complements my outdoor space. Throughout the project, communication was excellent. Any questions or concerns I had were addressed promptly, and I always felt well-informed about the progress. The project was completed within the agreed-upon timeline and it turned out great. Not only did California Custom Pools create a beautiful pool, but they also left my backyard clean and tidy, showing respect for my property. I highly recommend California Custom Pools to anyone looking for a reliable and skilled pool contractor. Their dedication to customer satisfaction, combined with their expertise, sets them apart in the industry. "We knew what we wanted in a pool. We wanted it to fill most of the back yard with a built in hot tub, swim jets, and a large shallow shelf. Kenny came out and did the initial sales and design work. He was informative, and made sure the pool would have everything we wanted. The crew working on our pool were all polite and professional. I exceptionally liked Mario and his work on our coping and tile. Watching him work it was obvious that he wanted to make sure the job was done right. We had a couple of difficult coping spots because our pre-existing concrete wasn’t poured very level. But Mario took care of it, and I have to say it looks excellent. Corey was the general project manager. He was very accommodating. After seeing the steel frame of our hot tub, I could see that the seat layout wasn’t exactly what I wanted. A few emails later Corey had made the adjustments I requested. Corey also built a custom swim jet system that is much better than the Badu systems I was looking at, for about the same price as the Badu system. After our pool was complete, Enrique showed me the proper way to care for the pool. He also explained what all the equipment was and how it worked. Following the method that Enrique taught me, my pool water looks very clear without it smelling like harsh chemicals. Another thing that I appreciate about San Diego pools is that the equipment they recommended works very well. Out hot tub heats up quickly. Our swim jets are powerful. The large filter makes quick work of the dog hair and other things that fall into the pool. Plus with the three LED lights our pool looks amazing at night. San Diego Pools also took care of all of the required inspection work. They even made the necessary adjustments to my gate to make sure it would pass inspection. The price I was quoted was the final price I paid for the pool. I also knew ahead of time if I was selecting an option that would cost more. This is important to me, I don’t like it when contractors surprise you with hidden costs. Overall, I highly recommend San Diego Pools."

"Jared at Lawrence pool has been cleaning my pool for many years and I couldn’t ask for anything better. I constantly get comments about how it doesn’t smell like chemicals at all and just feels like you’re swimming in very clean water. He also is proactive to find issues with my pumps and other equipment and fix them to make sure everything is in great working condition. He communicates great and makes everything so easy."

"David and his crews built us a wonderful pool in Jumal. We hit rock while digging and David saved us a few thousands with creative thinking. The project does take a little longer than we thought but I was extremely happy with the result. I highly recommend California Pool Company to anyone looking to put in a new pool. Thanks guys very much!"

Pool Construction and Installation questions, answered by experts

This is fairly rare, but sometimes the local government or a group like a historical society will label a tree as a landmark, or historical item. These designations almost always come with a small, on-site plaque for identification, but you should also be able to look up protected trees in your area on a city website or similar list. If the tree in question is a landmark, call your local government and ask how to proceed before making any plans.

To hire a land surveyor, you need to start by searching online for reputable professionals in your area. Here are a few steps to take when making a shortlist:

  • Browse land surveyor service website

  • Check credentials

  • Read customer reviews

  • Find their contact information

  • Call or email to inquire about more information

  • Ask how far they travel, if you’re some distance away

  • Find out how they charge for their services

  • Ask about schedule and turnaround times

  • Repeat these steps for one to two other services and compare pricing

A few different types of land surveys can help determine certain features and boundaries of your property. These include:

  • Boundary surveys describe the actual borders of a property. These are generally required when trying to get construction permits issued.

  • Location surveys provide much of the same information as a boundary survey but also include in-depth information about any improvements made to your property.

  • Mortgage location surveys are usually required by lenders and title companies before financing or offering an insurance policy.

  • Site-planning surveys are done before applying for building permits and can be issued before any major home improvements.

  • Topographic surveys provide a formal map of land elevations. It can also describe the location and size of natural features and any land improvements.

Land surveying can help give clear guidance on your property boundaries for numerous situations. And in some cases, having your land surveyed is a requirement. Some common reasons to have your land surveyed include:

  • Planning for construction projects, like building a fence

  • Locating utilities, such as plumbing fixtures

  • Settling property line disputes

  • Creating subdivisions

  • Meeting mortgage requirements

  • Selling your property

If you can’t find any records online, you’ll need to contact your county clerk’s office to do further research. They should have property records on file, or can at least point you in the right direction of who to contact. You can also speak with your neighbors about when their houses were built because they were likely built around the same time.
